Job application: practicing number sequences?
I was wondering if there are others out there who have taken a sort of aptitude or "capacity" test as part of a job application process. I did recently and did okay on stuff like word association and abstract thought but completely bombed out on number sequences (so no job for me). Math was never my strongest point, but I usually do okay.
They were (in my eyes) pretty damn hard, and there was a time limit for answering the questions. They all consisted of just 4 given numbers and a 4th number which you had to specify, which could be in any position. Not that much to go on. I used the finite differences method on most of them (as is sort of explained here), but that didn't get me any further. My question to you is: for those of you who have had this on tests, did you practice before hand and if so, where did you get your practice number sequences? I searched a lot on the Internet and couldn't find much that was useful (there's the AT&T database, but thats not really geared towards practicing number sequences). I would like to be prepared next time they dish out a similar test. Thanks. |
