2 yr olds+Crayons+Drywall=Bad
 

The Title pretty much says it all... While I appreciate my daughters longing to be an artist like her dad... her palette of choice just doesn't sit well with me... especially since I'm renting.

Question is... What's the best way to get Crayon off a wall...

I've heard that Water can make it worse... but it could just be a myth.

Help.

TSP mixed with water. Wear rubber gloves.

See if you can paint the wall with high gloss paint. Washes off with water

goo gone. although it doesn't like FLAT paint too much... (ie: not semigloss or gloss)

You'll most likely never get it all off. Paint the wall before you move out.

Have you tried baby wipes? Those damn things get anything out.

If it is eggshell paint, then nothing will completely clean it and not leave a mark. If you have a pearl/gloss finish, as above Goo Gone works well - a product called 'Goof Off' is AWESOME stuff, but may take the gloss off the topcoat of paint. With any of these approaches, I strongly recommend testing in the proverbial 'inconspicuous area.' Chances are good that a new topcoat of paint will be in order.

Goo gone works....trust me I know. Oh, and be prepared for a LOT of scrubbing.

I would have to say repainting may be your best bet

Repainting is gonna be your best bet, but the paint won't stick to the crayon very well, so your gonna need a good primer such as KILZ, that stuff will cover anything. Paint it w/ KILZ then let that dry, then cover w/ regular paint.

You might try a sanding sponge with the goo gone. It has a scrubber side and a sponge side. usually available in the drywall area of the home depot or other shardware place. Put the goo gone on it, wear rubber gloves, and then scrub away. Good luck!

they sell markers that although they are more expensive (Crayola, i think) they can only be used on special paper so they dont get on the floor/wall.

i saw a comercial for them a while ago but i know that there are similar things like that.

TSP is the stuff you are looking for :)

Mix one cup hot water with thre tablespoons lemon oil in a spray bottle. Spray, let sit, wipe, repeat. If there's a lot on it, scrape it off first with one of the tabs they use to close bags of bread; those things are all-purpose scrapers.

Other ways:

WD-40, wipe off, use soap to remove any oily film
Bleach and water on a cloth

Baking soda and a damp sponge.

"To get crayons off painted walls, scrape off as much of the crayon as possible with a spatula wrapped with a cloth towel. If you have a high gloss paint, rubbing may dull the painted area. Dab at the marks with a soft cloth dipped in a dry cleaning solvent. It may be necessary to repeat this treatment several times. If this does not work, make a paste of automatic dish washer soap, apply, and rub gently. If you have crayons on wall paper, gently roll a knead eraser (sold at art-supply stores) over the crayon marks. If the stain remains, crush some white chalk and mix it with dry-cleaning solvent. Lightly sponge the paste against the crayon marks, but do not rub. When it is dry, brush off the excess with a tissue. If this does not work, gently rub with a paste of automatic dish washing soap. With a damp cloth, wipe cleaning chemicals off the wall."
