Starting an adult site..
 

Apparently it's a decent way for people to put themselves through college (like I'm trying to do!)... Anybody know about what kinds of things are involved.. costs.. laws.. etc?

I've seen a few websites out there that have a lot of generic information, but hopefully people here have a little more to offer.

How much can you make, and it is really worth doing?

Going off of what others have said before. Do you have plenty of models to use? Are you going to be original? Do you have what it takes to be on top of this thing all the time? It takes a lot of devotion to a site to make it worth visiting..

You should ask in the adult webmaster forums. Xbiz.com and gofuckyourself.com are both excellent places to gain insight into the porn biz. Its a lot more complicated than it seems. Spend a month or so reading and asking questions and you'll have a lot better chance to avoid losing all your cash than if you just plunge in.

The porn business is extremely hard for small fry to enter successfully, especially with the rampant piracy the porn world has to deal with. You may want to consider websites such as redclouds.com as a sponsor.

Just ask yourself; what happens if the money you put in to this doesn't pay off? The risk may not be worth the investment.

this is pretty important, my friends ex girlfriend did some porn behind his back was being paid 80 bucks an hour. and to start a site you need more than just one model and several photo shoots plus photgraphers and all that junk.
it would probably be easier to just become a pimp for a while :D

or you could buy a cheap van and you and your friends could drive around town picking up girls and doing them in the back and then drop them off in a random place - while filming it! oh wait....

There are so many porn sites, and so many ways to not pay for accessing them, so a start-up site will most likely fail very quickly.
