I'll be on the veranda, since you're on the cross.

If you haven't already, you might try using an online phone directory. Either google it or www.switchboard.com can be quite useful. Other than that, I don't have any good ideas.

Do they live in your town/county? or across the country? I find when trying to do reverse lookups, and what not there is a multitude of resources, but you have to know what to look for.
If you know what county they live in (aside from yours), see if that country has an organized country government website, my county you can find property owners EASY. Ummm, if that doesn't work, there's also the library, well, if they live in your area, go to the public library, and there's a multitude of reverse lookup resources that come in extremely handy. And, no, I don't stalk people... not anymore |

Well, you have a few options.
Call the local police. -- If this is REALLY as important as you make it out to be, then call the police. www.ussearch.com -- There is a fee involved, but the will be able to tell you what you need to know; if it's that important that a few bucks aren't going to matter, eh? The phone book. -- 'nuff said Really, you're not going to find much on the net that will tell you if said person is still living in the area or not. You are going to be relying on phone records; if said person does not have a phone in their name then you're S.O.L. I'd assume that said person is not the kind of person who would write a BIO about themselves on a webpage with an address and telephone number. -SF |

thanks for the assorted and sundry help- cops have been tried, for those curious......essentialy the situation is that threatening calls were made to the home of my friends mother, where said friend used to live- and these calls continued for several hours, at one point the guy called while the cops were there, and talked to them (not realizing who they were) looking for my friend- so the cops are aware of the situation, calls were made off a phone card, so unable to trace whether they were made localy, or from who knows where- cops would like to talk with this jerk, but have had no luck, as their info is all old, and my friend is somewhat justifiably worried about this guy just showing up one day- It would be not such a big deal except that he put her in the hospital during their relationship- figured I would try the net, and so far have been able to get info that is a few years more current than the cops, but still not up to date- (cops now have this info) Hopefuly it does not develope into some kind of worse deal than it already is.

Your friend shouls have a restraining order against him, in order to have more against him in court. It should include a distance he needs to keep away from her, and prohibit phone calls. She should call the phone company, have them keep a record of calls made to her house and her parents' house. There should be no fee involved if it is part of a police investigation. If possible, she should stay with another person until the isssue is resolved in case this guy does try to get near her.
She should carry some sort of personal defense weapon, I would reccommend CS gas (not peper spray.) She could also consider a stun gun, my personal reccomendation is The Sizzler, available here: http://www.amazing1.com/prot.htm I reccomend it because at 6'8" and 300lbs, it can drop me instantly, while I can fairly easily disarm someone who sneaks up on me with a police-issue stun gun. |
