Job Listing

I need a little help interpreting a job listing. Here's what it says:

Quote:

To apply, please forward your resume, a minimum of two references (including at least one internship or other work experience), and a brief statement of why you should be considered for this position and how it fits with your future career goals to jobs@<company>.com. Indicate in subject line INTERN and which office interests you.
Now, does this mean send two references, as in names of people who they can call who will say I'm a not a craxk fiend, or two references, as in full blown letters of recomendation? Stupid question, I know, but I really want this internship and I'd hate to screw up on something stupid like this.

I'd say the contact info, not letters of recommendation. Just my guess.

They mean references that they can call to make sure you are not a crackhead. I.E. Friends, relatives etc. The reailty is that they will never call anyway.

I would just send the contact details first. They won't expect to check until you're very likely to get the job. If you can give contact details fro people who will give you a glowing reccomendation, do. Otherwise basic character refs. should be fine. Failing that, phone up and ask. Personal contact works wonders if you don't come across as a chump. They'll look through the CVs and say 'Hey, isn't this the guy who phoned us blah blah. He seemed like a nice bloke... Let's give him the job!' Sounds stupid I know, but having worked in the same office as my boss during a lot of recruitment, I can tell you it can work like that.

It's possible they'll want one personal and one employer reference, but it's just best to check.

Thanks guys. I called and you were right, they just want names of people who will attest to my non-crackheadedness.
