Ideas for Argument Topic?

I'm trying to think of ideas for an argument paper that I have to write in my English class for college. I'm trying to stay away from the cliche topics, but have only landed one. The topic I have now, which I don't really like, is argument over why the theory of evolution should be the basis for life science classes in public schools rather than creationism or any other mythologically based belief.

Anyone write any argument papers in the past, or have any ideas of a good, solid topic I can write about? Thanks a lot in advance...

How about why space exploration is (or is not) critical to the future of mankind?

How about
"Should Women Be Allowed to go topless in Public" or
"Speedlimits, Should They Be Increased" or
"Hacking, Crime or Craft" or
"Compensating College Athletes"

One of those should work

No problem. Please let us know how it turns out.

Stay away from any hotly debated issue. I once wrote (what I thought was) a very sound paper debunking creationism. Turned out that the TA that was marking half the papers was a reborn fundamentalist christian. Got a D+. (later contested and remarked by the prof to a B+)

Space exploration is a good topic. You can make good arguments either way without running into a bias. In an ideal academic environment, it shouldn't matter, but there are few such environments.

That's some fucked up shit! I hope that TA was severly reprimaded!

Try to be creative and off the wall. You can argue anything you want, all you need to do is back it up.
