www.doesyourroomsuck.com has some decent plans. It's more for if you don't want to spend a lot, but my friend made the pvc minibar and it's pretty sweet. it's free too.

Their bar design on that site isn't too bad. You can make it longer or make it take a corner, etc. too. Also, you can put more 3/4" pine verticals every 16" and then more at top and bottom - between them, to make nice panels. You can then take a nice panel molding and picture-frame inside each panel. If you use decent plywood then you can stain and finish the whole lot and it will look great. You can use oak or pre-finished wood flooring for the top too. I've tried this and it looks nice. Then buy the "pour on" acrylic bar top stuff at your hardware store for the perfect top finish. That stuff (not cheap) works GREAT and the provided instructions are very good. I would use the propane torch and "tent" the application as described on the package.
