Handyman...er uh handywoman?

Either way it takes some kind of hand tackling the projects this house seems to throw my way. So yeah.... it's a remolder. Women can do this stuff right? May not have ever done alot of it before but .. hey I am learning, one valuable lesson at a time! Boy am I learning!

So I have only been trying to get my living room painted for a month or two now. Of course every room but two in this house has one or more windows that didn't get finished off. After doing one window frame and a sill I can understand why .. let alone actually two now if my count is right. That was quite the learning experince. Figured if I am gonna paint I may as well do it right or close anyway and finish off the windows first.

So that went okay. But then oh gasps!! I ran out of paint for the living room. Almost had the thing completed.. half a ceiling was all that was I stress "was" left. I had the paint stored for that rainy day .. or snowy day spend inside time. Needless to say the weather was nice when I bought it. Didn't know there was an off season at WalMart for paint. Needles to say they didn't have a huge selection. So I looked over what they did have, and all I seen was textured paint. Never had to paint before! Hell I lived in an apartment complex before moving into this house!! They had that thing called maintance men. Wasn't much esle I could see that was called just paint. So I bought it! Ah happy me I had paint.!

Never would have imagined WalMart had such a sense of humour and only stocking their shelves with as I found out quickly not paint, just cause it said paint didn't mean it meant paint. Texture.. yep that was the keyword. First word before paint even. Bumpy stuff .. yep.. made my wall I started on bumpy. Doesn't look like paint to me. So damn back to sqaure one.

I went ahead and did all the walls with texture. Covered the filled in nail holes pretty good. Covered a few of the mistakes on the drywall job I did. Couldn't take it off .. figured that woulda been to much work ...so I had thought. Ha!! Finally got the walls all textured last night after three weeks ago I had started this texture painting. Couldn't find the motivation to wanna do it all over again. Couldn't imagine why.

Did finally get a 5 gallon thing of paint paint .. satin even. How proud I am of me. Bucket said white!! Free paint .. what the hell. Alright! Opend it and it's a light beige! Grrr.. So I'm dealing with it, after all it saved me 30 bucks and another trip to off season land at WalMart. So now once again it's me the living room and paint. All over again!! Not to mention I decided the carpet needed painted. Dumped some paint into the pan and whoa! That 5 gallons of paint isn't very light!! It overflowed!!! All I can do is hope I got it cleaned up enough maybe it will blend in with the carpet!

Ugh - I bet there are a few stories like thisone out there (especially with box stores.) I did the Home Despot pint section once, and only once - after the shite they mixed up for me did not adhere to primed drywall, it's been Benjamin Moore for me all the way (one house all BM now and never looked back once.)

Hope that carpet heals OK!

I don't mind painting at all.... as long as the paint comes in 5 gallon buckets (preferably ones that say Pittsburgh on them) and is being applied with a large airless sprayer.
