Carpet Repair
Here is the situation, I have two or three patches of carpet that have been shredded by my cat when she was a kitten. I have extra carpet to replace it but I am unsure of how to go about "mending (for lack of a better word)" the old carpet and the new carpet to make it look like one or pretty damn close.
Any suggestions? wait...any suggestions besides getting rid of the cat? ![]() Thanks. |

Place your replacement carpet over the worn carpet and line up the weave as close as possible.
Using a utility or carpet knife, make a patch by cutting through both the replacement and the worn carpet so you make a patch that fits exactly the same size as the part you are cutting out. You just cut them both together so they should be exact. Pull up worn carpet, tape seem, and glue the patch into the spot you just removed the worn. Good Luck. It's not as hard as it seems, but attention to detail must be followed. Use a good straight edge for cutting, and buy some carpet seem tape and rent the special iron they use to heat and adhere it. It's worth the 10 daily rental fee. -bear
