Half-Life of Mushrooms
basically, how long do mushrooms stay in your system. (Please no commments on how long my bowel movement to release a portabella).
|
Badger?
Honestly, though, do you mean test detectably (which I don't know, but would guess about a month) or with effect (which depends on how you take them. I would say major effects are over within 4 hours, but minor effects continue for up to 3 days, though by the end of that it's just a worn out feeling.) |
see, i would think it depends on how much you take if you're asking about major effects. i've had people tell me it's lasted them 6+ hours. if you're on them with other things (special brownies), it could be a full day.

I'm talking about being detectable in your system.

I don't think they stay in your systen longer then 3 weeks but I could be wrong. Also I don't think most drug tests test for psilocybin.
|
There is no reliable test to detect 'shrooms. If you're tripping in front of people, maybe they'll figure it out, but if you're going to do it away from anyone who will need to test you, they won't find anything.

Here is some interesting metabolic information:
Metabolic half-life of: MDMA: 9 hours, 72 hours traceable @ 1% Psilocybin: 5 +- 1 hours, 48 hours traceable @ 1% The chemical name for psilocybin is: 4-phosphoryloxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine Psilocybin and Psilocin are both structually similar to seratonin which is: 5-hydroxytrytamine As the psilocybin and psilocin bind to seratonin receptors, the seratonin receptors (typically the 5-HT2A receptors) are over-stimulated as the body has an inefficient re-uptake mechanism for psilocybin and psilocin. Fortunately, psilocybin and psylocin are easily oxidized and hence become inefficient at this point. I would tell you what chemicals to ingest to immediately flush the psilocybin and/or psylocin from your body .. but they would all kill you :D |

The only difficulty with testing for 4-phosphoryloxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine is that you have to test for metabalites and oxidized states .. and with a "vanishing half-life" this is typically not possible simply due to time constraints. |
mushrooms is fun but E takes teh cake.
