Juvenile Matters and Emancipation
Is any one here have any experience with emancipation of a minor?
One of my younger friends is in a real rough position, her dad is partially abusive, both her parents treat her like S$@$, we are trying to find her a way out. she is 15 for all that care. There is a place for her to live, she can easily get a job, she is very responsible. Basically she wants out. What do we need to do to get this taken care of. Further are there any lawyers out there that would like to give me a hand in figuring this hole thing out. Thanks for the help in advance Either post back here or get in touch with me over the private message. |
Basically, I don't think that there is any one correct decision when in such a situation. Being 15, and trying to support oneself is not something that is easily done. With that said, the way to get it done, is to speak with a counselor (school?), and then proceed by way of court. The counselor should be able to direct her towards the resources she needs. If it can at all be worked out nicely, please try. Life is not easy at all for a 15 year old, responsible or not.
I am not a lawyer. Yes a lawyer is needed. I wish you both the best. |
First, and I hope that you take this to heart.
REPORT THE ABUSE. No-one deserves abuse, NO ONE, EVER!! If you know it is happening YOU have the responsibility to report it also! It is very hard to get emancipated without a paper trail. So, in the end. REPORT IT. -SF |
