French Final Help Translation needed.

Hi its the french Dummy again.

I was hoping a french person, could help me translate this in future proche. Thanks

When I finish my test, I will be going home to Tulsa. This Christmas break I will be working. I hope to make lots of money. I will visit my family, and visit my friends. I hope to have a good Christmas, and receive lots of gifts. I plan to give lots of gifts.

Not to be accusing, but that looks suspiciously like a babelfish translation. I'm don't have time to check right now, but it doesn't sound right, althought it could be due to my limited knowledge of French.

Babelfish can do words, not essays.

I don't know if this sentence translates quite like this. This sentence is a literal translation of "I hope to make lots of money," and a French speaker may interpret this as to literally create the money. I would use, "J'espère gagner beaucoup d'argent" or "J'espère obtenir beaucoup d'argent." Again, I am NOT a native French speaker so I may be wrong.

Agreed... "earn" (i.e gagner) a lot of money would be a better choice. Also, "beaucoup de cadeaux" is better than "un bon nombre" (obviously, "a good number").

Great question, though... nice to make use of french in everyday ways.

One other thought, and it's probably too late, but the second translation in this thread is done with futur simple, not futur proche... the futur proche is formed by conjugating the verb aller, and adding the infinitive of the verb after.

e.g. I will eat an apple. = Je vais manger une pomme.

It's a simpler (read: less complicated) way to speak of something in the future that is likely to happen, even though it's used less frequently in French (to my knowledge).

It is used for things like "I am going to the toilet." Something that is going to happen in a few hours tops. "That's going to explode..."
