An "IMDB" for non-fiction books?
Does anyone know of a good resource site that has a (reasonably) comprehensive archive of non-fiction books? Something like what imdb is for movies.
Currently, I am using amazon.com, but, while it is useful, it is far from ideal. Preferably, I would like to be able to access reviews of books, written by people who know what they are talking about. Also an area to discuss the books would be nice also (not a discussion area per book like imdb, obviously enough, but finely categorised areas would be useful).

I feel your pain.
I would also like something like this. I'm a voracious reader, and 95%+ of what I read is non-fiction. I tend to buy "respected" magazines to get good reviews. New Scientist, BBC History, TLS etc. Even a good bulletin board or mailing alias would be useful. Mr Mephisto |
