Important Photo Possibly Destroyed
I have an important photo that got Mountain dew spilled on it and now has streaks!! It is a glossy black and white photo with an autograph on it!! Is there anyway to clean the photo without ruining it further??

Not really. You can digitally clean it up, but then the autograph is next worthless. I dont know of any reliable way to clean that up. Is it a real photo print (printed in a darkroom) or is it just a print on glossy paper? If it is a <i>real</i> photo print, you can soak it in water, but I dont know if the autograph is waterproof, and I doubt that will take out the green dye in the mountain dew.

It is a print on glossy paper!! The damage is not all that bad now that it has dried!! Just looks like a few streaks!! Could I try wiping them away with a small amount of water!! The autograph is not damaged atleast!! Could kill my husband lol!! Looked much worse 5 hours ago!! Thanks for the advice crazy!

That's a lot of exclamation points...

Do not put cold water on it, it could make it worse...use the cold water on the husband.

I would take it to a shop that specializes in the restoration and preservation of photographs. You should do this anyway and have the photo sealed up, because eventually it would fade and look crappy anyway.

I would love to give him a shower of cold water in the middle of the night!!!!

If it's a photo you've taken you still might have the negatives around somewhere. If you do then you can get it printed again. That doesn't help with the autograph but you'll still have the picture that way.
