Getting MP3s from IRC?
In the post from Gatecrasher there is mention of a way to get mp3 files from IRC. I have to admit aside from finding out the status of TFP when down, I have never used IRC before.
What servers/groups would some of you experienced in this area recommend patrolling for music files/which ones do you frequent most? In searching for tips on the web, I'm finding mostly groups out of my area of interest (Eastern European techno, French victory marches, etc.) Thanks in advance for any leads you may have to offer. |

try Efnet servers they have thousands of servers
type this in your status window /server efnet.vuurwerk.nl to connect to the server then /list in your status window again it will list every channel on that IRC server once the list has finished scroll through the list a find which channel you would like to join and right click on the particular one and select join and your set PS: Make sure there is over 50 or so people in the channel otherwise you'll be lucky to get anything at all |

yeap yeap..IRC is a great way to get mp3 rels.
here's what i do - use an online IRC search engine. there are several, but i like 2 the most - http://www.ircspy.com/ http://www.packetnews.com/index.php another handy link to see some of what's relsd in the mp3 scene - http://www.mp3hq.net/index.php lastly, i strongly suggest using XDCC Klipper - is a little mIRC addon that makes it easier to get things from xdcc bots - either by automatically listing the packs in a separate window (doesn't always work like it used to tho, i think some bots/chans have configged to make this not always work) OR you can right-click a bot, and either get a pack # or list packs.. there are other features too, but thats all i do. go here for the Klipper http://members.lycos.co.uk/xdccklipper/ oh, and for channel recommendations - my favourite is #mp3z-techno-dance on server irc.infected-irc.com - if you like that sort of music, there's shitloads there good luck!

I have a dislike for getting files through IRC so here's another option:
get www.kazaalite.com (Kazaalite), it's a decent client. good for single mp3 files for albums, get emule @ www.emule-project.net and find your files at sharereactor(.com), filenexus(.com:81) or through www.jigle.com |
