I know I'm not the first to say this, but i don't even smoke and I own a zippo. Love the dang thing and I don't feel right without it. It just comes in handy everywhere, like lighting the candle in the bathroom after number two if there's no matches...
Plus it's always good if you're chatting up a cute girl in a bar who needs a light ;) I love my zippo... |

I wouldnt, but only because I have no interest in whats on it. I do, however, have one that I never use. It's a Steeler's zippo. As I am a huge fan of the team, you can understand why I own it and consider it one of my prized possessions. |
I remember from a few sad freinds, don't fill a zippo with anything other than the right kind of fluid. as much as some alcohols burn, they just fuck up a zippo.

interesting side note: kerosene WILL work in a zippo, in a pinch. However, once you decide to refuel with proper zippo fluid, you will have to let the wick and the "stuffing" inside dry out completely, before the zippo fluid will light consistently. |
I had a Zippo for 20 years before I realized the little hole in the felt is to store a spare flint.
I know... just look away If you rip apart a dead Bic lighter you can get a flint twice as long as any you can buy. |
Hmm I'll have to look around for the old dead bics. Although replacement flints for a Zippo are only .59 for six so, who knows time or ease. Not all the felts have a hole in them I just checked, interesting.

I have several Zippo lighters. One I found, a couple I bought for myself and a couple that were gifts. Love them all.
I usually buy a package of flints and dump them all under the felt at the bottom. Always have a spare flint with you. BTW, don't overfill the lighter and put it in the front pocket of your jeans. Lighter fluid burns. Trust me on this. I've got one of the leather belt pouches for my zippo and I'll be buying a nylon pouch to put on my toolbelt at work. |
Just got a couple of more Zippos for gifts. Very cool Kevin Smith Nails version and the Bulls Eye.

But seriously, why not by a quality tool once in your life, rather than continuously buying cheap crap and throwing it away? A plain Zippo only costs $15 - and will last for several lifetimes if maintained. |

Of course, I ride a Honda... |
Hell, I don't smoke but I have a Zippo just because they're cool. I rarely carry it but another good side effect (if you will) of having a Zippo is the fact that you usually have a can of Zippo fluid around too which is always good for getting things to burn. Viva La Zippo!

I thought my Zippo would be a once-in-a-lifetime purchase. I fricken lost it somewhere this past summer. I'm still pissed off, it was a nice Zippo. All shiny/reflective chrome-like exterior with a raised funky blue abstract drawing that looks like some person on the front. I still have my certificate, but I doubt it's of any use now..

I have two that are at least 20 years old. They sure are nice lighters.

I have bought a zippo on my biirthday since i was 16 it's a fun hobby, not too expensive and zippo's lsat forever if you take care of them
