Check my haiku knowledge
I didn't mean for this short note to be a haiku when I first wrote it, just a e-mail before I go to sleep. But I realized that it kind of fit the form so I decided to shape it into one. Or at least what I know about Haiku's. The person who will be recieving it will know if something is off and I am horrible at counting syllables. Do I have it right? Here it is:
"It rained today just like when in Oregon it makes me miss you." The main thing I am concerned about is, do I have the syllabul count right. I know it should be 5/7/5, and that's what I have counted, but I have a blind spot for syllables. Last edited by Harshaw; 09-10-2003 at 01:45 AM.. |

You actually hit all the points. Haiku is not just 5-7-5 syllables, but is also supposed to be based on nature or natural phenomenon. Ganbatte, yo!

my mnemonic is to follow the jaw drops.. put your hand under your jaw, each time your jaw hits your hand, it's a syllable.
