Color of facial hair

Ok, I've got two quetions that are driving me a bit batty. For the record, I personly have brown facial hair, leaning towards blonde.

1)I use an electiric razor. The 'clippings' are always pepper gray. I remember my grandfathers (who was totaly grey) was the same, and a friend who has black/brown hair is the same. Anyone have an explantation for this?

2)I used to dye my hair red/magenta. Several times I died my beard also. Wierd thing is, for about 1 year after I stopped dying it this color, my beard came in russet/red (and no, this was not just my imagination, gods honest truth). What's the deal with that??

Facial hair can be kind of odd. Even though I have dark brown hair, more than a quarter of my goatee is red. I have no clue as to why, but it just seems to do that for some people.

I've got kinda the same thing...when I used an electric the shavings always looked red, but my beard is brown when I grow it out, with only a few red hairs.

Red hair here...So all of it is red. As far as you clipping from an electric razor...They are usually prettty tiny, so they end up being a non color. That and your prolly seeing whatever dead skin cells it pulled of your face.

My facial hair starts out red at the roots but ends in blonde on the "soul patch" while going to brown on the chin hair. Go figure.

And I'm a redhead with blonde eyebrows.

when i get f'ing lazy and have hair on my scalp it is all dark brown fuzz - but my beard has a slight reddish tints overall (or in strong sunlight) and there are a few minute spots where it is a bit light-coloured/almost grey on the chin.
When I was 13, my hair did have a prominent grey streak right in front; of course I combed it out where it showed, but I could cover it just as easily. That did go away on its own after a spell.

Ya, hair in general is wierd... I have blonde hair and everything else is blonde. However, when my facial hair first starts to grow out it's blonde, then it turns like a reddish! What's up with that? Oh well..

Regarding your #1 question, I have a salt and pepper beard and the shaver clippings are grey as well. They were grey even before the 'salt' started showing up in my beard. I think it has to do with how small the clippings are. Have you ever mixed paint from a powder and seen how it changes color? It's just a guess but it's probably the same process.

Dad, is that you!?!

Yup, my pop was the same way, spec.

Where as I, I can't seem to grow a beard for the life of me.
If I don't shave and let it grow for a couple of months, then I have about 100 inch-and-a-half long very course, curly, almost pubic -like brown hair, growing helter-skelter all over my face, but without any noticeable pattern.
The in-between parts are covered with fine peachfuzz type almost blonde hair.
It's not very attractive, let me tell you.

Same here. People always think I've dyed my beard. Now who would be dumb enough to do that?

I have black hair, and a salt and pepper beard. Except for my soul patch, which is blond...

When I was younger, the summer sun would make my beard go red'ish, but not the hair on my head! But I guess with the increased grey now, that doesn't happen anymore.

I used to make fun of my friend for having a red beard, but now I do, except I can't grow a full beard.

Question: If I can't grow a full beard at 22, will I ever be able to?

Possibly, the male body matures in its 20's, but i would say not i'm afraid.

Adding to the thread, my facial hair is just plain odd. I have a band of black hair (considering i'm blonde) running from my mouth all the way down the front of my throat and neck, as wide as my mouth. I also have black sideburns.
The rest of my facial hair doesn't really grow at all, and when it does, its blonde.

Some odd genes going on there

i think the thicker the hair grows the darker the shade will be and the more you will notice that the colour is totally different from what you natural hair colour is.maybe you could bleach it to tone it down or try to colour it to a more subtle and matching colour

My ex-husband had dark brown body hair and on his head. His facial hair was more amber/red and one side of his moustache definitely more red than the other. I have strawberry blonde hair which tends to bleach out in the summer from the sun. When I was a teenager and spent a lot of time at the pool and the lake I would start to look like a peroxide blonde. I have very little facial hair --being female-- just a little bit of almost white "peach fuzz." My pubes are definitely red, though. My ex told me that my pubic hair in sunlight was one of the most beautiful things he had ever seen.
