How to protect your car
I'm at the age where I'm beginning to be eligible for some pretty sweet jobs, money-wise. And as I've just won my license (years late, but college'll do that to you), the entire network of roads across the United States has sort of become one big car commercial for me. I'm car-obsessed.
So I was wondering. There are a lot of people with insanely nice cars. Either they're modded and upgraded and awesomed up with time and love, or they just cost a fuckload of money. How do you guys keep your cars safe in cities? I mean, leaving a BMW 7-series parked on the street in Boston - that's just asking for trouble, right? How do you make sure your car isn't vandalized or stolen? What precautions do you take? Do you just avoid the city altogether? |

Pretty much be very careful where you park your car. Try to park in very well lit areas and also be careful when parking in multilevel carparks as they are a haven for theives. Or..... get your girlfriend to drive you anywhere were you have to leave you car in a dodgy area

buy a really crappy car to drive around in and leave your nice car in the garage.
that's why you see so many people in beater cars with the license frame that says my other car is a bmw or porsche. just kidding.

Tip #1 - if you have to park next to another car, park next to a four door. Their doors are shorter.

Hello, good evening, and bollocks.

I always park next to a curb, in a spot in the parking lot where there's no cars for several spaces, so my doors dont get banged up as much. I avoid parking in bad areas of town, and if I have to park somewhere questionable, I'll try to park near a nicer car than mine

all good tips above, if you can't find that spot by a curb, planter or someplace where no one can park next to you, find the nicest car in the lot and park next to him, chances are he's just as careful as you and doesn't want his wheels scratched up either.

lock it, insure it, maybe get an alarm. but remember, nothing is foolproof, nothing is guaranteed. a good car thief can get any car, now matter how good the alarm/anti-theft system is. all you are really doing is trying to deter the amateurs.
also, dont leave anything of value in plain sight in the car. if you add high end sound components, keep them out of view.
