Advice For Someone Starting Woodcarving

I am enrolled in a continuing education wood carving class. Any advice on what tools to purchase, any books or websites to read in advance, etc., etc.?

Hrm. I have absolutely no idea whatsoever. Odds are, no one else in the class does either, and the prof will tell you what to do.

If you have a Woodcraft store near you, they are a good source for power and hand carving tools (can be some real spendy stuff) as well as blanks/blocks (basswood, etc)

If the course supplies the tools (many do not) then start with that and see what you use most, ask the teacher what the basic tools are and buy the best you can afford (if you will be sticking with it.)
