sitting in a chair backwards

remember as a teen, although i still do it many times, and sitting in a chair backwards with your legs spread around the back of the chair? i heard there was a term for this, and was wondering if any of you fine people knew what it was. i did a search on it, and turned up nothing. thanks

hambone 08-01-2003 08:11 PM

all I know about this is that A.C. Slater did it all the time

that's exactly the position, there's a name for it

lafemmefatale 08-01-2003 10:26 PM

straddle? straddling a chair? i'm guessing cuz it's how you describe sex positions of the same way :p

CAN_skate 08-02-2003 03:33 PM

Yeah, AC Slater totally made it famous.
He also made fro mullets or 'frullets' very fashionable.

Mephisto2 08-02-2003 11:02 PM

The word for this is... annoying!

:)

Mr Mephisto

El Conquistador 08-03-2003 06:37 AM

Why does my brain hurt at the mention of A.C. Slater?

kurty[B] 08-03-2003 09:54 AM

because you just watched a re-run of "Saved By The Bell" on UPN, and realized how absolutely awful that show really was!

can't we just call it a "Slater" then?;)

crackpot 08-04-2003 07:32 PM

Didn't one or both of the dudes in "Miami Vice" sit like that all the time? Don Johnson, I think, did it. That was before Saved by the Bell I reckon...

08-04-2003 08:37 PM

"slatering" the chair? Sounds reasonable.

And frollets are teh devil.

crupdawg 08-05-2003 05:45 AM

tony danza did it on the Who's the Boss all the time, too

water_boy1999 08-05-2003 03:43 PM

so, why not mix 'slater' and 'danza' and call it a "Stanza"?

CrazyIntent 08-05-2003 06:32 PM

Saved by the Bell rocked. Remember watching it everyday after school.

BrinlyNoya 08-07-2003 10:15 AM

You know whats really really horrible, its still on the air, reruns yeah, but it still on, after school. So I have to deal with my lil sister comeing home, and watching it... and its horrible because I'm walking through the family room, glance at the tv and say to myself "yeha, that was a good episode... the one where they take the pictures of the girls swimming for the calender...." and I want to shoot myself~~~~~~~~~~~

j8ear 08-07-2003 02:38 PM

"Rodge" used to do it on "What's Happenin'" back in the seventies....long before ole AC Slater.

How old are you people? :)

cetacean 08-07-2003 02:50 PM

You beat me to it j8ear! I loved "What's Happenin."

fuzzix 08-08-2003 06:29 AM

From a martial arts point of view it has its advantages.

You can rise from this sitting posion faster than the conventional position.

The back of the chair becomes a small shield between you and the person in front of you.

Just doing it to look cool is naff though.

mikecc 08-08-2003 03:08 PM

who the hell is AC Slater

sstennes 08-08-2003 05:01 PM

I've got nothing.

CAN_skate 08-08-2003 09:30 PM

AC Slater is the tough guy from Saved By the Bell.

I remember when my older syblings decided SBTB wasnt cool anymore and I told all my friends it sucked and thought I was hot shit for knowing.

This chair technique is now best used as a joke with your firends.

IE.

1. Enter restuarant.

2. Get booth

3. wait will everyone else sits

4. grab a chair and do the asshole backwards sit

5. someone will call you Slater, that is your cue to say "shut the fuck up screech" and smack him.

RedSweater 08-10-2003 12:12 AM

Married With Children > Save by the bell. It's an obvious fact.

s8ins child 08-10-2003 11:23 AM

the A C slater position sounds good i guess or the A C slater manouver

mjollnir 08-14-2003 01:20 PM

Knowing that saved me a world of pain one time actually. I slattered my opposition.

1973 08-15-2003 10:41 PM

Vyk 08-20-2003 10:14 AM

semi-off topic but I had actually gone though all of the 90's without seeing Saved By the Bell and was fairly proud of that. Then my best friend made me watch it with her last week on UPN reruns. argh...

I feel so unclean! :D

He also did it on taxi all the time which was before Miami Vice and Saved By the Bell. I think Danza just likes sitting that way.

SaltPork 08-28-2003 09:31 AM

WOW, I had forgotten that Tony Danza was on Taxi. He sucked in that too.

100FullDEQ_SRVR 08-30-2003 06:11 AM

Didn't Mr. A C Slater (Mario Lopez) go on to play Greg Louganis (sp) in a "made for tv" biopic a few years back?

tehblaed 09-02-2003 07:21 AM

Yeah he did. Sometimes I do the whole "What's up guys?!" and then the AC Slater sit-down, it's pretty funny.

Shpoop 09-06-2003 11:37 AM

A C Slater also went on to star/appear in such big time productions as Pet Star, and Hollywood Squares!

Asshole Lover 09-06-2003 02:40 PM

:)

slater and zack...

hahahaha nice one guys
