No. Early on, I was clear that the armor should either be a metal like titanium or steel, or ceramics like those used in modern ballistic armor. The plastic parts are removed and replaced by metal or ceramic pieces, which are much stronger and more durable than plastics. Imagine having metal plates strapped around your forearms, elbows, upper arms, shoulders, chest, back, abdomen, etc. Those are similar in placement to lighter and less strong protective plastics in motorcycle gear. That was what I was trying to say.

Will and I are talking bases, I know plastic won't stop a bladed weapon. He and I are discussing whether or not a "chassis" or plate based armor setup (much like modern armor wore by many of our own TFP military members in active combat zones) would be more easier to manage than standard armor setup (elbow, arm, chest/back, leg are all independent pieces). We were using modern BMX gear to get our points across to each other.

Plastic won't stop shit when it comes to combat, I don't have a death wish.

Eden- Have you checked out armourarchive.org? There's a lot of good advice on building armour there. It takes a lot of time, tools and tinkering to get really good at making armour. I work mostly in spring steel, which gives you the lighter weight and greater protection you're looking for. We know that similar higher carbon steels were used at least as early as the 14th century for high end armour.
