Looking for a website that has the old myths and original fairy tales

Like way back with the celts and nords. When druids were priests. In other words any websites you guys know of with knowledge of anything 1500 years plus.

I took mythology in college and loved it. But we mostly focused on roman and greek myths. I love old fairy tales, the ones that are nasty, or old myths involving supernatural monsters.

So any websites anyone know of?

Thanks

don't forget to click on English because they have the original Icelandic and Norse languages.

I don't know of a good single source, but here is a good survey of what you're after. You will find that some of these sites that host these texts might have other stuff you're looking for.

This list is by no means fully comprehensive or exhaustive. It should give you a good start at least. It's my own aim to explore these texts over the next while.

Norse/Icelandic:
The Poetic Edda Index
The Prose Edda Index
OMACL: The Saga of Grettir the Strong
OMACL: The Story of the Volsungs (Volsunga Saga)
OMACL: The Nibelungenlied
The Saga of Fridthjof the Bold
Frithiofs saga (Open Library)

Bunch of info here: Legendary saga - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Celtic/British Isles:
Mabinogi Translations
The Celtic Literature Collective: Irish
Fenian Cycle
Legends - King Arthur - Sources
James MacPherson's "Ossian" (E-text Index)

The good thing about that particular Wikipedia link (if you haven't checked it out yet) is that it lists and summarizes the Fornaldarsagas (Norse sagas) for your convenience. Finding them is another matter.

I remember ruminating around this topic sometime ago. You might enjoy it, and also come to find/discover more than I have from the site/blog than I have as of yet.

They have shortened versions of the tales. I cant remember which book I first read of the tales - they are brilliant.

It's not quite what you're looking for, but this page of myths and legends retold by a drunken fratboy are all kinds of awesome: Myths RETOLD
