Yes, well done BonesCPA that's right!
|
Hey, all. Here's one that I didn't see on any of the posts:
Scientist find two people buried in the ice in Antarctica. After unthawing them and studying them, they conclude that these two people are Adam and Eve. How do they know that? |
Must be that neither of them have a belly-button. And perhaps Adam has a scar on his chest...
|
Must be the fig leaves :)
|
Yeah, it was the belly button. You guys are gooooood. ;-)
I just thought it was a fun one! |
how bout this one
When is four half of five? |
when you take the letters iv, roman numerals for four.
|
dexlargo - wouldn't that make five half of four?
I guess four is half of "four+one" |
No, iv is half of five. 'five' is four letters long so take away the first and last letter of the word 'five' and you have 'iv', which is half the length of five, so it is half of five, and also means four in roman numerals.
I should have explained that better before. |
Okay here is an easy one:
A butcher I know is six feet, two inches tall, wears a size 12 shoe and has a 17 inch neck. What does he weigh? Also an old one: Bob and Sue are dead on the floor beside a table, surrounded by broken glass and water. The window in the room is open. How did Bob and Sue die? |
they are fish and he weighs meat...
i will edit this one when i remember another good one -edit: okay: there are 100 coins in a room, each which have one black side and one white side. They are placed in two piles one of 90 black side up coins and one of 10 white side up. An old, blind man comes into the room. He can do whatever he wants. He is told to make sure that each pile has the same number of white side up coins. How would he do this? |
He should take the smaller pile and flip it over.
|
Okay, I've got another one:
A man goes to work, misses the last bus and goes home happy. What happened? |
dexlargo - did the last bus crash?
|
No, but he is happy because he missed it.
|
yea he missed it and it got a flat tire and got delayed or broke down, or fell off a bridge or got robbed etc, and he is happy because he got home first or safely
TIO: wow, i typed it wrong lol try this: the 90 black and 10 white are in one big pile, how can he be sure to have two piles that have the same number of white coins face up? |
dexlargo - was there someone on the bus he wanted to avoid? Ex-wife/ex-girlfriend/police/creditor etc?
|
Shpoop - he should take the coins out into the sun for a while. Then he can feel which ones are black side up (they'll be warmer). Flip over the ten cool ones, then separate into two piles of any number (as neither will have any white coins) ?
|
No, he didn't know anyone on the bus, that wasn't his concern.
A hint though: If he hadn't missed the bus, he wouldn't have performed his work properly, and probably wouldn't have been able to go home. |
Ah ha ha ha. I think I have it... I hope I'm right. Is the person a stunt motorcyclist??
So he clears the last bus??? |
dexlargo - he's a driver of some sort (taxi, HGV, whatever) and he wasn't looking where he was going (changing tape/mobile phone etc). Suddenly, he looks up and sees he's heading straight towards a large bus (coincidentally the last bus of the evening)...
He swerves... and misses! Hurrah, no real damage, just a few shaken nerves. He lives, happily, to fight another day. Am I right? (edit: just seen mathmo's... I like it! :) ) |
Mathmo got it, he's Evel Knievel!
(Edited because I can't spell strange names) |
cliche: i guess that would work, but thats not the answer... whats a fool proof way that he could do it (after all, if it is sunny the white ones will get hot, though not as hot, and when he touches black ones his hands will get hot and it will be hard to judge etc etc)
lets keep heat out of it |
Shpoop - a couple of ideas:
1. he can ask someone who isn't blind (cheat's method ;) ) 2. he can use his fingers to spot the head vs tail by touch alone (overly-sensitive method, and I guess you'll tell me the coins are blanks) 3. make 4 piles. 3 have only one coin in, 1 has all the others. He now has at least 2 piles with the same number of white side up coins (as at least 2 of the 3 with only one coin will be the same) (foolproof, wasteful method :) ) |
I've got it... He picks ten coins at random from the pile of 100, it doesn't matter which ones. Then he flips those coins over. These are his two piles.
If he chose 10 black coins, then he would have flipped them and had 10 white in both piles. If he chose 9 black and 1 white, then he would have flipped them and had 9 white in the new pile and guess what? there are nine white in the larger pile too. Repeat for all numbers of coins, still works. |
dexlargo - well done! (fx: kicks self) :)

Well, I'm at the point of tearing my hair out, so I'll guess at Noble (No bull)??
|
Well done mathmo! That was it!
|
Well, you definitely gave the ultimate hint!!
You've got to love puns :) |
hey I have one i heard the other day...
Two people are driving in a car. A father and his son. They have an accident, a bad car crash and the father DIES and the son is badly injured. The son is rushed to emergency for operation. The surgeon walks in to the room and sees the kid and says I cant do this, I cannot operate on my own son. How is this possible..? |
double - I think we may have already had this one...
However, I'll go for a short-sighted surgeon or a "My Two Dads" type explanation :) |
the surgeon is the kid's mother.
