Cliche: Does he hear a DJ or just music?

cliche 07-22-2003 09:13 AM

smarm: nice guess, I like it - but no, he's listening to real radio, no DJ comes on

danzilla 07-22-2003 10:30 AM

The guy in the car turned off the lights instead of turning on the radio and accidentally drove off the cliff...

smarm 07-22-2003 10:53 AM

I like danzilla's answer.

But... since he knows the PD and the DJ, maybe he works at the radio station. He's driving to work, so when he turns on the radio and hears music, he knows his job as a talk radio host is lost since the station has obviously changed formats to music from talk. Knowing that he has lost his job he kills himself?

Ok... I'll stop flailing now.

Kadath 07-22-2003 12:38 PM

Well, he knows the station manager, that's a big step. Is the station manager boning his wife? Is the station manager his wife? does the song indicate the end of his marriage or relationship in some way?

cliche 07-22-2003 02:21 PM

danzilla: :) but no

smarm: Like the answer. He does work at the radio station, but he was expecting to hear music on the radio

Kadath: Station manager is not his wife. Might have been having an affair with her (possibly irrelevant but makes for a nice story). You'll have to be more specific with questions about what the song indicates

smarm 07-22-2003 05:51 PM

1. He works at the station.
2. He hears music, no DJ.
3. He is reminded of something in the past by the music.
4. He is suicidal after he listens to the music.
5. This puzzle may be "better suited to the more elderly"

Sorry, just wanted to recap.

Is the man upset over something related to his wife?

BrinlyNoya 07-22-2003 07:51 PM

he heard "its the end of the world as we know it" and thought it really was the end of the world....

BrinlyNoya 07-22-2003 08:11 PM

another riddle, and damnit I want to know the answer to the car one first!

A young lady's mother dies and at her mother's funeral, the girl meets a very nice young man. Yet, before she can find out who he is, he has disappeared before she can ask. The next week, the girl's brother dies. Who did it, and why?

BrinlyNoya 07-22-2003 08:22 PM

ok I got it......

The guy works as a DJ, he decides to go kill someone, and use work as his alibi so he puts on a really long song (we'll say NOFX's The Decline, thats pretty long). He goes, kills the person, and on the way home, turns on the radio to find that the song is skipping, signaling to everyone that he isn't really there, so he kills himself instead of going to jail..

cliche 07-22-2003 11:47 PM

BrinlyNoya: Well done, I'm impressed!

cliche 07-22-2003 11:48 PM

BrinlyNoya: is the girl a delicate little flower, or is she a borderline psychopath?

TIO 07-23-2003 01:42 AM

hehe
cliche has it on the girl whose brother died :)

cliche 07-23-2003 09:18 AM

TIO - I guess you guessed what I was thinking. Depends on how nice the young man, irritating the brother, and availability of weaponry. Still, the real question is - what's wrong with this bloke that he keeps turning up at funerals?

Has anyone got anywhere with Xell101's? I'm thinking of words with lots of double letters in but not getting very far

Kadath 07-23-2003 09:57 AM

Since I totally missed Xell's riddle, here it is again:
"Cut off my head and I shall still be found
Though somewhat shorter, still the same in sound.
Cut off my tail, I still remain the same
Bereft of both, I will not change my name
Not even if you deprive of my middle
Now lest as me you would considered be
I pray you quickly to find out this riddle"

I think the key to the riddle is "Now lest as me you considered be I pray you quickly to find out this riddle." "As me" would be stupid, or slow, or somesuch. I want to say a zero, based on the "deprive me of my middle" thing. Still, I'm not sure how the head and tail fit in.

BrinlyNoya 07-23-2003 10:54 PM

the only reason I got that was because Iwas asking my friends about it. One of them said it had to be one of those questions they ask you to see if you are going to be a psychotic killer or not, he used the riddle I told (about the girl's mom's funeral) as an examplel... So I just had to think like a crazy person.. and I got it .. I don't know whether to be happy.. or worried.........................

The girl, so she can meet the man again.

Me thinks cliche is trying to be sly....;)

I too am coming up with nothing...

Xell101 07-25-2003 09:32 AM

YYURYYUBICURYY4me

(answer to last: empty~ _mpty, empt_, _mpt_, _m_t_ )

BrinlyNoya 07-25-2003 11:08 AM

xell was right

and I got nothing too.. I've heard that before and it always takes me a bit to think of the answer.

cliche 07-25-2003 02:47 PM

Xell - you mean empty is the answer to your riddle earlier? I take it 'empt' and 'mpty' are to be pronounced 'emp T' and 'M pty'?

Is your new one a poem? I think it's too clever* for me

Not really a riddle, but similar:

11 was a racehorse
22 was 12
111 a race
22112

* or wise

for me
Say what you see and the answer shall be heard (with minimal grammatical concern)

Quote:

111 a race
22112
Er...I don't get it...I managed to figure out previous I posted since I said it to myself but this one I don't know how to even solve. I'll take a wild geuss, 11 is the placement of the horse, horse number 22 was in 12th, so 22112 means something I don't know...

Spotted it - hence the star to 'wise' in case anyone else hadn't yet

I got lost somewhere. not sure what riddles have not been answered yet.. so Im gonna throw one out for ya

A man stands outside a square fountain measuring 50 feet across. At the exact center of the fountain is a platform measuring 10 feet across. Upon the fountain is an antidote to a deadly poison that the man has been given. He is given two 14 foot boards. He is unable to tie, nail, glue, or otherwise attatch the two boards together in any way, and the fountain is 15 feet deep.

How does he get his antidote?

It'd be easier with a picture, but basically, he puts one of the boards across a corner and then the other from the center of that board to the platform.

Xell101 07-26-2003 04:19 PM

Is it 22 won 12th?

wlcm 07-26-2003 06:09 PM

11 was a racehorse
22 was 12
111 a race
22112

11 was the name of the race horse
22 - a jockey was 12 years old
11 won a race
22 won one (a race) too

is that right?

watupyo 07-27-2003 12:03 AM

ill read

oneone was a race horse, twotwo was one too, oneone won a race, twotwo won one too

A woman has incontrovertible proof in court that her husband was murdered by her sister. The judge declares, "This is the strangest case I've ever seen. Though it's a cut-and-dried case, this woman cannot be punished."

Why can the murderer not be punished?

At a local bar, three friends, Mr. Green, Mr. Red and Mr. Blue, were having a drink. One man was wearing a red suit; one a green suit; and the other a blue suit. "Have you noticed," said the man the blue suit, "that although our suits have colors corresponding to our names, not one of us is wearing a suit that matches our own names?" Mr. Red looked at the other two and said, "You're absolutely correct."

What color suit is each man wearing?

A gentleman leaves home, proceeds a short distance and turns left. He goes another short distance and turns left again. He goes another short distance, then goes home. As he nears home he sees two masked men. Who are the two masked men?

wlcm 07-27-2003 07:58 AM

Mr Red wears green
Mr blue wears red
Mr green wears blue

TIO 07-27-2003 10:03 AM

fresprite 07-27-2003 06:06 PM
