item is to slippery

I used wd40 on an item that is supposed to work as a bolt to hold the top of the kitchen aid attached. It worked in getting it back in after it slid out, except it is a little to slippery and starts to slide back out at times. Anyway any thoughts would be great.

Say what? Your explanation is confusing. Pictures may be best.

unscrew the bolt and wrap a little steel wool around it before you put it back in. Or, just remove some of the WD 40.

General solution to slippery fasteners: a little appropriate-strength Lock-Tite.

Cheater 04-30-2009 06:18 PM

After you clean off the WD 40, (alcohol might work) apply some lock tite - BLUE - stay away from the RED or you will have a hard time taking it apart in the future.

I so wanted this thread to be about sex toys.

I vote for lock-washer. Easy assembly and disassembly and it shouldn't back off on it's own.

WD-40 is not intended to be used as a lubricant

It is a fine lubricant for many things. As a lube however...

I agree.

runtuff 05-13-2009 04:03 PM

Is it a loose bolt from the threads being partially stripped or is it slippery?

Xazy 05-14-2009 06:33 PM

Sorry it is a bit hard to explain if you have a kitchen aid you see how the head of the kitchen aid goes up and down so you can put things in and out of the bowl. The hinge has a metal bar that is in there that holds it together. It fell out once not sure how, and would not go in so I put some wd-40 on it and it went back in, the problem is now it tends to slide out.

Wrap a bit of tape around it.

kinsaj 05-15-2009 11:26 AM

Try disassembling the joint and degreasing all the parts with simple green or something like that to wipe off all the lube. Reassemble and see if that works.
