I need help

Is anyone here good with cryptograms? My friend put this up online and I can't for the life of me figure it out. If anyone could help me out that would be fantastic.

I'm pretty sure I couldn't solve that if my life depended on it. I wouldn't even know where to begin.

There appears to be atleast 2 different ciphers.
Starting on the assumption that "3vjdj" and "ovjdj" were THERE and WHERE, I've got that:

3vjdj gdj ovj psf3zjsp fx rjpojdrjgd?
ovjdj 3gp zjedtp ts ovj gtd, fx qfkdpj
njogip gsz ijgajp
zkpo gsz gpv

is

Where are the snowdens of yesteryear?
There was debris in the air, of course
petals and leaves
dust and ash

Unfortunately, it doesnt seem like the cipher works on the rest of the msg. Ill work on it.

quick note, "Where are the snowdens of yesteryear?" is from Catch-22, might help

Starting with the assumption that 1'l and ivm'z are I'm and can't,

1'l ibxzv1meq muz tu1mt zu 1z vmqluxb
1 ivm'z cueg um bmuntc

Becomes

I'm certainly not going to it anymore
I can't hold on enough

which sounds awkward, but is what I'm getting. Any thoughts?

Woohoo! Was struggling with

+qim rihh htni w fviwx vwty
+qeklq +qiv rwhh xwvnif +qi iyf er w fviwx

and getting

They fell like a dream rain
Though ther fall marked the end of a dream

by assuming +qi == the, but "ther" is a typo on the part of your friend, or where ever he got this.

The complete (correct) quote includes the above lines, from the first cipher I solved:

There was debris in the air, of course
Petals and leaves
Dust and ash
They fell like a dream rain
Though their fall marked the end of a dream

Found the quote at http://books.google.com/books?vid=IS...cG1rw7VIhaysgg

So the game seems to be a list of literary quotes, usually w/ one half of the quote in one cipher, and the second half in another. The problem is, not all the quotes are correctly enciphered (assuming I'm doing this right). If your friend posted them on a website, please post it a link. Here's what I have so far

Wow nice work lotronex. Spelling mistakes make it harder to solve as in the case of the kryptos sculpture.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kryptos
Quote:
He had removed a single character from the cyphertext for aesthetic reasons. An accidental result of this change was that plaintext that should have decoded as "XLAYERTWO" had been decoded as "IDBYROWS".
