Changing VCR recording mode from sp to slp or esp?
Hey all,
Thanks for helping me with my VCR recording problem. I really appreciate all your suggestions! It turned out that we didn't put a wire from the VCR to the TV and once we did that I was able to record!!!! I didn't even need my lost remote control for it:) Anyways, now I have a new problem:) My tape finishes in only 2 hours becuase it's in sp mode. i want it to finish in 6-7 hours as claimed through the slp mode. How do I change this? thanks!! |
If there is no speed button and you can't find the remote you maybe out of luck. Some universal remotes have speed but most don't. You can also try pressing the record button multiple times, on some vcrs each time you press record the record length time increases by 30 minutes. Good luck!

buy a universal remote control that has all the VCR controls you need like setup etc.
|
Also...
Go on-line and get the documentation for your unit if you don't have it or e-mail the manufacturer with the model number, etc. |
Thanks all for the wonderful help!

I tried 7 hours (by pressing the rec mulitple times as you've stated)and two hours of recording was enough to finish the tape! So, should I make it 30 minutes? I'm clueless. Thanks |
sounds like it's still not adjusting from SP to EP. Just because you can press record to determine the automatic stopping point of a recorded session does not imply it switch from SP to EP.
So that you know and understand the difference of SP and EP isn't just the length of tape used. It's also about the quality of the reocrding made. The current mode that's selected SP (the 2 hours) will have a higher picture quality than the EP mode which will record more but the picture quality will be significantly lower in quality. what manufacture and model is this VCR? |
Thanks, Cynthetiq
My VCR is a Symphonic MWD2205 |
am i correct in identifying that this is a DVD/VCR combo player?
the instructions are here. http://www.symphonic.us/pdf/om/RSMWD2205.pdf You will need to buy a new remote for it since the only menu access is via the remote control. http://www.remotes.com/store/Magnavox/MWD2205.html $30 |
Thanks so much, Cynthetiq!!!
You're a life saver! And yes, it's a dvd/vcr. |
