Jesus is walking around heaven talking to and helping others adjust to their new surroundings...
A little hunched up old man comes walking up..."Can I help you sir?" said Jesus...
The old man replies "I dont know , I've been searching for my long lost son."
Jesus says "I might be able to help. What did he look like?"
Old man says "Cant miss him he's got holes in his hands and feet."
Jesus face lightens up and he says "Father?"
The old man looks up and says "Pinocchio?"

The ironic thing is that there is no indication that Jesus' (a.k.a. Pinocchio's) nose has grown. Was this joke written by a witty Christian?

Uhm, huh? Why would his nose have grown? I don't see a lie...

Assuming he was doing his Jesusy things by the time his father found him, you would think his nose would already be long if what he taught were lies.

It's not really Pinocchio though... it's really Jesus. It's a misunderstanding... because the description could be related to either of them. See?

But why would Jesus' face light up? Wouldn't he know the man really was his father, him being Jesus?

I know I'm reading into it too much, but the humour I got out of the joke is the irony that--if, in fact, Jesus is also Pinocchio, by some odd twist of fate--Jesus' nose hasn't grown, meaning Jesus' truth is the Truth.

Otherwise, the question remains: Why is the joke be so funny?

Confusing Jesus with Pinocchio would, actually, be a compliment to Jesus, since his nose hasn't grown. I'm sure if the old man really thought it was Pinocchio, he would be proud of the fact that his nose hasn't grown. He looks to this mean, either way, as a man who tells the truth.

<-- This is me tapping my finger on my nose... way too much. Yes, Jesus would probably know Geppetto from God, but it's a JOKE. Sheesh!
