Didn't Bill Waterson retire on New Year's Eve? How many years ago was that?

We should have an anniversary party.

Coppertop 12-23-2004 04:50 PM

It was 8-9 years ago, I believe.

blitz.fenix 12-23-2004 04:51 PM

ah, i miss calvin and hobbes. not christmas related, but my favorite
Calvin: BU-URRP!
Mum: Good heavens, Calvin! What do we say after that?
Calvin: "Must be a barge coming through!"
Mum: WHAT do you say?!
Calvin: "That sure tasted better going down than coming up!"
Mum: Three strikes and you're history, kiddo.
Calvin: Excuse me.

lots more good calving and hobbes quotes (no images though) at:

Fohur2 12-23-2004 08:52 PM

Very nice.Calvin is a little gangsta

grayman 12-23-2004 09:51 PM

Those are great. Thanks for the post. I've never seen the snow sharks one before.

Seaver 12-23-2004 11:10 PM

oh man I wish it snowed here in Texas... just so I could do some of those snowman things.

Racer 12-30-2004 10:58 AM

These are great...I miss the strip.

Profhet 12-30-2004 12:47 PM

the snowman "art" just awesome

CinnamonGirl 12-30-2004 07:55 PM

Calvin's snow creations rock. One of my favorites is the one that ends with Calvin's mom saying "I don't care, we're not having an anatomically correct snowman in our front yard!"

Thanks, Latch!

I laughed out loud for several of those. Thanks a million for posting them! Man, I wish it'd snow a bit here so I can make some snowmen...

Lefty04 01-02-2005 01:07 PM

What was the origin of all the redneck window stickers with someone who looks likie Calvin urinating on things?

cyrnel 01-02-2005 01:30 PM

Thanks Latch, those are great. Miss his stuff. (Breathed's, too.)

I almost miss having a cube to post them on!

Lefty04 - here's what I could find on the origin of those Calvin stickers - from the Derkins Library: http://ignatz.brinkster.net/cstockcars.html

Krycheck 01-02-2005 10:03 PM

Thanks so much Latch, I've hadn't seen some of those before. I used to have the rest saved somewhere, but now I do.

I miss C&H so much, most newspaper comics now a days are no where as funny. If they are at all.

energus 01-03-2005 07:29 AM

thanks for the smile and laughs. Makes me miss snow even more. Always wanted to make a snowman in that stile, allas no snow in my hometown

BatmanMan 01-03-2005 04:22 PM

Can't get enough C+H. I bought the collections as they were coming out in the early '90s and every time I go back to read them I get a new sort of enjoyment out of them. As a kid I loved them for their obvious gags and visual humor and now 10-15 years later I can read the subtlety Watterson put into the stip and enjoy it on a new level.

I wrote an entire English paper on Calvin's character last semester and loved every second of putting it together.

Thanks for posting this.
