A bevy of "Bushisms"

This made me smile...

And I thought Dan Quayle was a laugh.

"I want to thank my friend, Sen. Bill Frist, for joining us today. He married a Texas girl, I want you to know. Karyn is with us. A West Texas girl, just like me." -Nashville, Tenn., May 27, 2004

"I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein." -Washington, D.C., May 25, 2004

"First, let me make it very clear, poor people aren't necessarily killers. Just because you happen to be not rich doesn't mean you're willing to kill." –
Washington, D.C., May 19, 2003

"Our nation must come together to unite." -Tampa, Fla., June 4, 2001

Dick Cheney and I do not want this nation to be in a recession. We want anybody who can find work to be able to find work." -60 Minutes II, Dec. 5, 2000

Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream." –
LaCrosse, Wis., Oct. 18, 2000

"I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully." –

In the run up to GWB's last election campaign:
"More and more of our imports are coming from foreign countries"
Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease.

My mom often used to say, "The trouble with W" -- although she didn't put that to words.

I've been to war. I've raised twins. If I had a choice, I'd rather go to war.

I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe -- I believe what I believe is right.

I am mindful not only of preserving executive powers for myself, but for predecessors as well.

At this Thursday, ticket counters and airplanes will fly outta Ronald Reagan Airport.

We're in for a long struggle, and I think Texans understand that. And so do Americans.

I promise you I will listen to what has been said here, even though I wasn't here.

And one of the things we've got to make sure that we do is anything.

Border relations between Canada and Mexico have never been better.

We need an energy bill that encourages consumption.

It would be helpful if we opened up ANWR. I think it's a mistake not to. And I would urge you all to travel up there and take a look at it and you can make the determination as to how beautiful that country is.

We can compete with anybody -- at least, I think so

I'm the master of low expectations.

But we've got a big border in Texas, with Mexico, obviously -- and we've got a big border with Canada -- Arizona is affected.

Vice President mentioned Nigeria is a fledgling democracy. We have to work with Nigeria. That's an important continent.

If the East Timorians decide to revolt, I'm sure I'll have a statement.

I'd like to go down to South America. There is a complicating factor there. The Mexican presidential election is taking place, and I certainly don't want to get involved in that.

What the country needs is a leader who speaks clearly.
"Border relations between Canada and Mexico have never been better." –Bush, Sept. 24, 2001
"The Western world currently faces an existential threat which has not hesitated and will not hesitate to slaughter thousands to achieve its global aims."
The vast majority of our imports come from outside the country."

"I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future."

"We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur."

"For NASA, space is still a high priority."

"Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teach our children."

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."

"It's time for the human race to enter the solar system."

"It's clearly a budget. It's got a lot of numbers in it."

Welcome to Mrs. Bush, and my fellow astronauts.

The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century.

- Governor George W. Bush, 9/15/95

I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy - but that could change.
Governor George W. Bush, 5/22/98

While at the airport in Charlotte a week ago, there was a whole book full of "Bushisms". I couldn't believe there were that many to make a full book out of, no wait, yeah I can.

"What the country needs is a leader who speaks clearly."

That's my favorite...

I think that was the work of Dan Quayle, not GW.

I have seen a few of these before as Quayle-isms. I searched and found a few pages that had almost the exact same quotes, from both Quale and Bush.
Quale, supposedly:

"Welcome to President Bush, Mrs. Bush, and my fellow astronauts."

"The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century."

"I have made good judgements in the Past. I have made good judgements in the Future."

"We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur."

"For NASA, space is still a high priority."
