An old FAG ad from the 30s or 40s
 

They called ciggars, fags back then.
So in todays contex this ad is just wrong.

They still call 'em fags in Britain. I was in Blackpool (NW England) last year, and some of the shops have signs outside which read like "FAGS SOLD HERE", like that. The juvenile part of me laughed. The rest of me bought a pack.
Cuz I smoke... not cuz, well, you know... uh, never mind. I smoke. Straight.
