The Back Up.

Not sure if this belongs here or weaponry ...

many folks are buying one for each side of the bed .........

that statement alone makes me think it certainly doesn't NOT belong in this thread :D

Xerxys 08-03-2009 04:51 PM

It's only $39.95

KirStang 08-03-2009 06:12 PM

I wonder how many people have cut their legs on the hooks.

You Americans scare me.

I like it... but it would not work on my bed. I have a different setup that is effectively the same. Oh and I am serious.

Considering it was posted with humorous intent, I would say it is in the right spot.

What a good idea. That's about as smart as carrying a loaded handgun in the front of your pants, pointed at your pecker....

I think I would buy 4 since my bed doesn't have a headboard or foot board. Never know when you're going to need four guns while you sleep.

I've had the same arrangement for a while (no device though, made something myself). Now that my daughter is walking, I'm having to come up with something more tamper resistant. What's the criticism again?

I agree, and do that, too! (or will, once I get my CCW). SmartCarry FTW

What's scary is that a guy with a shotgun on the side of his bed isn't the bad part of America..

I can't believe I posted this exactly a year ago

...and I probably heard about it nearly two years ago. Astounding.

Duh … I Shot My Wife

Okay, so this guy in Texas calls 911 the other day to report that he put a cap in his bitchy wife.
“I shot my wife in the stomach with a .38,” he said in a soft and relaxed tone, as if he had called a friend to invite him over for dinner. Quite an amazing affect, actually.

The dispatcher asked the guy why he had shot his wife.

“She enticed me, and she would ridicule me throughout my lifetime.”

The operator then asked if his wife was still alive. “Hold on,” he said, “I’ll see …”

Fred Willhite, of North Richland Hills, Texas, a beat-up, old, brassy-looking guy neighbors referred to as the nutjob of the community, called 911 Monday night and told the operator his wife, Donna, was lying on the floor of their home with a .38-caliber slug in her stomach. Neighbor Curtis Simmons put Freddy boy’s life into context after the incident, telling a local TV station, “He was a nut, basically.”

As Freddy went to check on his dying wife, he could be heard in the background of the 911 tape talking to her patronizingly, asking her quite casually, “Are you alive or are you dead?” It was as if his tone implied, “Huh! I finally did it, woman!”

A moment later he returned to the phone, adding, “I think she’s dead.”

Worried Freddy was going to go on a rampage, the operator began sending several units to his home. Freddy sensed her trepidation. “I’m peaceable,” he said. “It’s OK.”

Freddy ended up surrendering peacefully when police arrived minutes later.

“He did exactly what he told the dispatcher he would do,” a police spokesman told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “He didn’t have a weapon or anything like that.”
Freddy wife was taken to a hospital where she later died.

e.g. An unsafe and ridiculous use of a firearm, i.e., rifles in the possession of unwitting American bumpkins, as is most likely to ensue by anyone person that can take watching such a commercial and inane idea and think to themsleves, "this is just what I need for overall security of my household".

Iliftrocks 08-14-2009 06:29 AM

Aren't the guns still required to have trigger locks on them? Or maybe that's just if kids are in the house.

Anyway to be effective they'd have to be loaded and ready to go. Seems like a small accident getting out of bed to take a piss would take out your kneecap.
