two priests
two friends, Sean McMurray and Vincenzo Secola grew up together, entered the seminary together, became priests together. they were always competitive, pushing each other to do better.
Vincenzo was always just a bit better than Sean, he graduated from seminary with top honors, Sean graduated second. Vincenzo always had slightly more parishioners, weekly collections were always just a bit higher. They both rose through the ranks quickly, they became bishops together, they became Cardinals together, they both were called to the Vatican together, and both were nominated to become the next pope. Everyone was expecting Vincenzo to be the next pope. after much deliberation, it was announced Cardinal Sean McMurray was to be the next pope. everyone was shocked. Vincenzo asked the college of cardinals why he wasn't chosen, and they told him, "Vincenzo, you are a hard worker, everyone loves you, your devotion is sublime, we all know you would have made a better pope. but we just couldn't have the next pope be Pope Secola."
