Vern was teeing off from the men's tee. On his downswing, he realized that his wife, Lucretia, was teeing up on the woman's tee directly in front of him.
Unable to stop his swing, he nailed it, and hit her directly in the head, killing her instantly.

A few days later, Verne got a call from the coroner regarding her autopsy.

Coroner: "Verne, your wife seemed to have died from blunt force trauma to the head. You said you hit a golf ball and hit her in the head, is that correct?"

Verne: "Yes, sir, that's correct."

Coroner: " Well, inexplicably I found a golf ball wedged up her rear."

Verne: "Was it a Titleist 3?"

Coroner: "Yes, it was."

Verne: "That was my provisional."

Play golf and still don't get it. I'm guessing it's interchangeable with "mulligan"

when one either thinks he loses his tee shot, or thinks it may have gone out of bounds, he is entitled to a "provisional" shot off the tee and is allowed to play that ball should the original never be located or is located out of bounds......

His first shot hit her in the rear his second her head, why she stayed there after the first I don't know

I don't think he finished the game so hes not going to factor his score in his cap

You have to be a golfer to get it, but it's funny as hell.
