SNL: Digital Shorts
So here is a place to post your favorites of the new generation of sketches: the digital short.
This is a recent one I've found that is a brilliant take off of the OC. <embed src="http://lads.myspace.com/videos/vplayer.swf" flashvars="m=2022871326&type=video" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="430" height="346"></embed> The Business Meeting is Classic absurdest humor: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z4vpT4UrY1M"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z4vpT4UrY1M" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> My all time favorite, Lettuce: <embed src="http://lads.myspace.com/videos/vplayer.swf" flashvars="m=1031376438&type=video" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="430" height="346"></embed> Oh, I almost forgot Doppleganger: <embed type="application/x-mplayer2" src="http://dantwo.net/video/snl_doppleganger.wmv" name="MediaPlayer" width="320" height="286" ShowDisplay="0" ShowControls="1" ShowStatusBar="0"></embed> |

Hilarity at its best! I haven't particularly cared for SNL for the past decade, but these shorts could be the guiding light to a new and better era.
It is perhaps too hopeful, but it is very funny indeed! Thanks for the share, Will.

Every single one of these sketches has floored me so far... I loved last week's "Roy Rules!"

I just realized this is about digital shorts, not skits. Still, Nuni rocks.
Now that I know what media I'm supposed to be sharing here, how about some CHRONIC... cles of Narnia? "Lazy Sunday" This never gets old. "You could call us Aaron Burr from the way we're droppin' HAMILTONS!!!" And here's Natalie Portman again, because I really liked her appearance that day: |

SnL sure has some hits and misses... I used to watch it religiously but interest has weened over the years. I think I was one of the only people that liked it during the Chris Farley, David Spade years...
So did they change formats recently?

I remember one of the first digital shorts was the "h is o" with Will Ferrel and Ben Stiller. The idea was to have better sketches by not having them live. It was an experiment, and I still feel like it's lead to better humor overall.

I've never understood why people love to jump on the "SNL isn't funny" bandwagon. I've always found it to be as funny as it possibly could be, given that it's a live show. The peak of this senseless bandwagon jumping was when MAD TV first started. Everyone I knew was saying "MAD TV is better." Never understood... I think it's considered cool not to like SNL.
If you can't accept the frequent bad skit (I find more than half of them funny in general), than you don't understand what improvisation is. For those who are on this bandwagon, you've been missing a lot of laughs with the current cast which can be best referred to as the "post-post-Ferrell" cast.

Here is another copy of the Natalie Portman one, I don't think the one above is available anymore
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/u46hSXHfKT4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/u46hSXHfKT4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> As for the OC spoof. I think it is hysterical but I have never seen the OC maybe it would be funnier if I had.

OK, so I found the original OC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRdLvrJnAOw) and while I get the spoof the funnyness has nothing to do with the OC. The funnyness is all SNLs doing.
OK, here is anothe digital short Roy Rules <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zQfTrBKth8M"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zQfTrBKth8M" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
