Any DAoC players here?

I am an avid player of Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC). Just wondering if there are any others of like mind here.

I tried it a few times. I killed like 30,000 wolves over several weeks and only made it to level 7. It didn't seem worth it to me. A few friends still play it.

An ex-roommate of mine played it like crazy when it first came out, and seemed to like it a lot, but then he gave it up and went back to Diablo 2 and Counterstrike. Now all he ever does is play WoW.

Percival for all the Hibs, Gareth one of the classic servers for my Mid's. Started playing WoW again now that some RL friends have finally picked it up.

I played all the way until Frontiers came out.

Standing battles that lasted weeks over 1 keep just isn't fun when you're a Minstrel. Your only job is hit powersong and /follow your healer. It's great for pve but I wanted some action.

@Seaver
In defence of Mythic all i can say is that now that DAOC is under new management it has gotten alot better. They are now fixing all the issues that the player base has been complaining about.

The keep battles still happen, however the shift has been to the open field battle now. There is alot of 8v8 and soloers now.

@raist
Mid/Gareth huh. Thats funny thats where my mids are.

My ISP is offering a 14 day free trial. I've never played an MMORPG so I might give it a go. I'd never play past the 14 days no matter how much I enjoyed it though...I don't need another time sink, and I'd resent paying a monthly fee for a game when I've already paid for it up front...

I played up until June of 2004. When my 50 Cave Shaman was suddenly being slammed about not having buff shears and I saw we weren't getting the bump to our healing abilities that we kept asking for, I gave it up. It didn't help that no matter how much time I tried to set aside and still have a life, Master Levels never seemed to get completed by my guild.

I went to play WoW when it came out, sold my account a few months ago when my guild broke up, and may go back to WoW again. It was just more fun, although if PvP is what you love, DAoC is far superior with its realm vs. realm keep fights.

I played daoc for years on and off but i just dont like where mythic is taking it. they dont listen to what the players want. and to get people to buy expansions they make the new classes stronger so your at a disadvantage without it. i quit as darkness rising came out after playing the beta for it. seemed too much of a panic we want players to like us expansion. give everyone everything they want with no thought to class balance.

But lets see if i can remember where i had 50s

Slobberock 50 thane merlin along with a 47 shadowblade i think it was named jonbob left merlin before spellcraft or SI was added because of all the uber guilds that would openly use radar and even admit to it and crossrealm spys that would admit openly to what they did.

slobberock 50 warrior on bedivere
slobberock 50 pally on bors and slobberrock 45 minstrel
billyjoebubba 48 i think warden on pellinor left that server when i realized hibs were never willing to rvr together they would rather run out to emain one at a time and get farmed.
jonbob 50 ranger on Morgan le fay lintt 50 light ment mlf as well and hum havnt got the slightest idea what it was named anymore but it was a 47 vamp i was playing with while waiting for the classic servers to start.
Moo 50 vamp Mooo 50 warden gareth mooocow 47 ranger. If you play hib gareth walk into housing and one of the first houses you see should be my big old villa with MOO spelled out on the lawn. think i have enough cash on that house merchant to pay rent for that place for at least a couple years. just so everyone can see Moo on the lawn and use the teleporter and crafter stuff inside.
Hum dont remeber what its name was but i had a 50 cave shaman on the other big classic server. i got it to 50 just in time to find out how bad darkness rising was going to suck and i canceled my account.

So yeah 7 50s if you dont count a 50 shaman bot on a account i shared with a friend on bedevere.
