Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory - Free game
 

hey guys thought some of you FPS lovers might be interested in this if you havent heard of it allready.

its a free stand alone multiplayer game based on WW2 combat. very similar to return to castle wolfenstein but with a lot more features. Was released about 2 days ago and is currently the 3rd most played game on game spy.

It's a great game, it's quite sad that the full version was scrapped though :( Ah well, better free than late and expensive :D

yeah i know, it sucks that spash damage made a bit of a boo bo in screwing up the single player...but hey, we get a free multiplayer game out of it so im not complaining....

BaH ive downloaded this game 5 times from different servers and everytime I install it I get an error around teh 90 percet mark saying that the installation is corrupt. I dont know what the hells causing this error...it says the install file may be corrupt but Ive downladed it from differenet places and I get the same exact error. I'm running Win2k and I've even tried using a downloader in case the problem was with the IE downloading agent.

Trav, same thing happened way back when UT2003's demo came out, eventually I had to download it from nVidia of places :( Just keep trying :)

Opiate, if I remember correctly, Splash Damage wasn't supposed to do the single player. Somone else was hired for it (can't remember their name.......was Gray Matter also supposed to do single for ET?). Anyhoo, I'm addicted to this game. New patch coming out. its a great game - can spend hours on it without even realising! some of the maps have some choke points but they are easy to overcome
A good location to dl is on www.rtcw.co.uk under the downloads section - it gives a load of different mirrors if u keep ahving probs with corrupt servers

My roommate just left for Texas, taking his copy of RTCW with him. This will do nicely as a substitute.

sorry you couldnt get it working, i havent heard of this problem myself so the only think i can suggest (like another here suggested) is to try again. im assuming you arent capped like BB users in Aus otherwise id have given up after the first try :)

honestly, i actually dont really like ET, im a sucker for vanilla rtcw and to me nothing can compare to the greatness of multiplayer rtcw. However, a free game no matter my oppinion is still worth sharing with everyone, glad yove enjoyed it :)

If you can't download, look up "RTCW files" on google, you should find several great sources available. Using "(game name) files" on google should present alternatives to those FilePlanet-type sites and their pay system bullshit. Using GetRight and segmented downloading also helps.

I had a great time playing it earlier... I can't believe that a game of that quality would be totally free. I love playing medic.
