Next Generation Consoles
What next generation console is everyone looking forward to the most?
I keep on changing my mind between the PS3 and the Revolution. At the moment, I am most hyped about the Revolution. I've warmed to the new controller and I am actually looking forward to using it! I am also curious to know if anyone is actually looking forward to the Xbox360! I haven't heard anyone say they are looking forward to it at all yet |
For me, it'll all depend on how much grunt the Rev has on whether or not I pick up another of the 3. I'm very much leaning towards the PS3, for GTA and MGS reasons, more or less. If the Rev can keep up somewhat graphically (and from what I've heard rumoured about it's specs, it's pretty likely it'll hold it's own) I may just stick with the one. Online Smash Bros! Downloadable Perfect Dark! Real sequel to Mario! Oh, the fun.

you can play older versions of smash with GC controllers, and im wondering if they'll make that online. Cause the system can play the new games and teh gamecube disks as well, so i wanna really know if it will make the older games online capable
|
Both the XBox360 and also the PS3. I'm a sucker for Sony, but then there's also supposed to be a lot of good games for the 360 - so I'll eventually have to get both, once I get rich.
|
I'm pretty excited about the Xbox 360 right now, The launch games seem pretty decent (for launch games) and there seems to be a lot of good stuff on the horizon.
I'm also excited about the PS3, but we may not see is in the states for another full year. Its hard not get excited from the hype for all three of the systems, so I want to see some actual game-play from the PS3 before I commit. I've already heard rumors that Sony is going to have to take out some features to get it out next year. Of course, this is just hearsay. I'm pretty bitter at Sony right now. I have a PSP, such a beautiful piece of hardware with much needed original software support. |
I'm a loyal Nintendo enthusiast. I can't wait for the Revolution, as it means a new generation of classics. Series like Metroid and Zelda will always make me come back to Nintendo. Although I'm sure I'll play the other two systems, the quality of Nintendo games is what will make me buy the Revolution.
|
Go with the revolution (though it probably won't be called that at release), it's the most inventive, and you can be guaranteed you won't be coughing up your money just for a high-spec graphics card in a tin can.
I know a few people who are excited about the x-box, but they all own the first one, so no suprise there. All of them are halo fans too, maybe that says something about it's gaming audience? |

Did I get ahold of some wrong info? Btw, I'm all about the next Ninty console. |
They're being tight-lipped about it, but as we're not playing on Dolphins or StarCubes I imagine it'll change ;)
|
They mentioned on the Hotspot that the new Burnout looks alot better on XBox than some 360 games. The graphics don't really impress me nearly as much as PS3. It looks as much of a jump from Xbox to 360 as it is from PS2 to Xbox. Big deal. If I want to spend money on graphics, I'll get a PS3. I probably will too, eventually.
What really has me interested is the Revolution. Nintendo kind of lost me over the last few years, and recently. With the worthwhile games coming around for the DS, I bought myself a DS, and I'm actually looking at Nintendo again. After 2 years of not touching the Cube or GBA, all of a sudden I'm buying games I missed for them. The games I'm playing aren't like the games I play on PS2. Nintendogs, Warioware, Metroid Prime. There really aren't parallels on the other systems. I'd rather spend my money on the unique than on the same stuff I've been playing for the last decade. |

You may have the right info, but my NGC mag pointed out that in the new pictures of the Revolution with it's controller, the name 'revolution' on the front has been replaced by 'nintendo'. Like hulk said, ninty have a nice english way of beating around the block when it comes to details, so until release, it could even be called martin, lol. |

I don't know, while some games looked rehashed, some games (Gears of War, Project Gotham Racing, Kameo) look outstanding. I guess its hard for me to trust what we've seen thus far from Sony. I remember before the PS2 came out, Sony was claiming that it could handle Toy Story graphics in real time. I'm not saying that MS and Nintendo aren't guilty of the same thing, but until its closer to launch, its just hard to tell, in my opinion. |
Revolution is the system I'm looking forward too the most. It seems innovative, original and it has the Nintendo name which means Zelda, Metroid, Mario and other great nintendo games.
If I got a second system it would probably be Xbox 360 because I like the pc feel it has for a console, and I love Halo 2. Playstation has never really appealed to me, and this one looks to do the same. |
the ps3 even though i am gettign a 360 but sony has the games i like
|
this thread could have used a check-box poll.
|
There's no basis to found a "looking forward to" thread on because it's really what people like about the actual look of the consoles. There has been barely any PS3 footage released and NO Revolution footage released. I'm looking forward to all three. The 360's games have recently had a huge graphical boost to them after the developers got a hold of the beta kits, so I'm really looking forward to it now. Before the beta kits, regular XBox games looked as good as 360 games...but it's different now. I won't be REALLY excited about any of them until the reviews of the launch games come out.

Wait, so you need footage? All that demonstrates is how well the devs can predict the final power of the console :) I don't think that graphical ability will be a problem with any of the consoles, so if you more or less eliminate that factor, the only one that's different is the Rev :P
|
I really don't believe that the Revolution will have any problem competing with the other two in terms of graphics. I'm betting those big numbers and figures we're seeing are over inflated. I remember the huge numbers we saw last time around, and Nintendo was left in the dust there too. Yet Gamecube generally has better graphics than PS2 somehow. Whatever... As Las has said before, buy them all and avoid being any sort of fanboy.
(edit) Sorry ladies, I'll be unavailable this generation |
Nintendo get it. They understand. I don't want more buttons, I want more control. The controler for the revolution just makes sense. Also, Mario + Zelda + Metroid.
I'm sure the PS3 and XBox will be cool, but they're nothing new. They are just the old things redone. |
I will be getting an Xbox 360, but I am also looking forward to the PS3. Both systems look badass.
Peace. V. |
i too am excited at the revolution - but i'm am not as certain that the new control will be enough to make it unique; especially as it can be so easily copied by sony or microsoft.
if the revolution's control really does become popular any game company can sell a replica along with the game sorta like how star fox came with a rumble pack. my point is all you need is a motion sensory add-on and bam that revolution uniqueness is gone |

Besides, i think it would be a major PR blow if the other manufactuers end up brining out a copy of someone elses controller ;) |
All three will have their strengths and weaknesses, so I'm electing to get all three and see which I play more.:D
|
I'm looking forward to all the systems.
PS3- Metal Gear solid 4,Final fantasy Xbox360- Elder scroll Oblivion Nintendo Rev- New mario, zelda, ect. |
One year from now this discussion will be irrelevant ;)

Three years from now, all we'll need to do is change the names and it'll be good to go again  |
No matter what console I buy, (I'm thinking probably PS3) it will only be for playing sports games and RPG type fare. Oh, and racing and fighting games. My favorite genre, FPS, can only be enjoyed fully on my pc. Consoles are strictly secondary in importance for me. But if enough games are offered, I'm sure I'll pick one of them up. I always do.
|
I'm hoping, given the power these systems are going to have, along with more complicated menu systems, that they feature mouse support. Then FPS will make sense on consoles. The 2 stick control is so terrible. If they include mouse support, they can close down the hit boxes and make the games so much better.
|
Looks like Nintendo want a worldwide release. That makes me happy :)

You mean, a PC? You'll get your wish, it won't be long before you get windows 360 coming out... Just gota remember the dreamcast. |
Getting rid the dual analogue system?
What company would be crazy enough to do that? |
Only Nintendo, Hulk... lol
