Dungeon Seige II?

Did a search, but didn't find anything -- anyone out there playing DS2?

I just recently got it so I'd have a favorite RPG to balance my favorite FPS (BF2). That said, I'm REALLY confused about how some of it works..

* If I'm not the host of a MP game, can I not save my progress? I played 3+ hours on a MP game, came back later, and tried to play. When I went to host the game, everything was greyed out, even though it was "completed." I'm still in the process of going back and re-doing it all. Am I missing something here?

* How does PVP work on DS2, if at all?

* Is spreading your points over Melee/Nature Magic a bad idea? I figured I could make something like a "Paladin" using this combo.. but the game keeps warning that I'll become a weak "jack-of-all-trades..."

* It mentions me playing more than one character in a MP game.. how do I do this?

* Is there any TFPers out there who'd want to play some night?

* Is there a hotkey for switching weapon/spells? I hate having to click up at the top..

I'm sure I have more questions, but I'm really just curious how many of you actually play it.

If you play on gamespy servers they auto save your progress on their servers, I'm not sure about any other way.

Co-Op only.

I went up till the end of Veteran mode, and found the only times it was beneficial to go into other categories was for the Melee health upgrade, Ranger dodge, etc. Mixing spell casters with Melee/Ranged I just couldnt work out right.

I beleive that is refering to having say 2 or 3 people you can control while your partner has the other half to make a full group. (Depends on what mode and your max party size)

I've allready given up on DSII sadly, the fun lasted for a while but just didnt have the replayability like some other dungeon crawlers.

Yeah, hit esc while in game, goto options in there you can set key binding and within that you can set special key bindings.

As in "GameSpy" instead of "Internet" from main menu? That's the servers I play on.. they're all unofficial and created by players.. am I missing the official ones somewhere?

.. when I host a MP game through Gamespy, no one can join. They enter the staging area and I get a multiplayer connectivity problem everytime.. It's sad, I dont like playing by myself..

So has anyone played both 1 and 2? I played 1 and just didn't get what all the fuss was about, combat was boring, skills were repetitive, the maps seemed the same, etc. Didn't seem very RPGish either.

There's definitely a subclass of RPGs where hack-and-slash, grab loot and sell is the only real thing you do. I lived Diablo II for it, and DS2 is certainly like that. It's got better graphics and I like the party system too.. maybe you didn't play DS1 enough or you're just not a hack-n-slash kinda person..
