MAME Favourites?

Just about to pick up the full collection (inc CHD's) from ebay so thought I would start a thread to ask for peoples fave arcade classics.

Been watching the g/f playing Burger Time and that looks good if not stupidly hard.

I remember a Ninja Gaiden arcade game that was totally different, and better, than its NES counterpart. I loved that one when I was little. Same with Street Fighter (the very first one when you can be only Ken or Ryu). Any of the Mortal Kombat games were fun as long as you knew the moves and fatalities.

You don't need to buy this off ebay, there are people that if you send the cost of DVDs they will burn full sets for you.

Street Fighter II CE, Road Fighter, Mappy, Pooyan, Shinobi, Contra...the list is endless.

And dont forget the nudy games like Gals Panic and Miss World Nude '96. 'Twas these games that made puberty bearable.

Technically, to sell a big CD of ROMs is illegal. Just Google search "ROM MAME download" and go to anything that finds and grab them individually. 90% of the games (or more) will be titles you've never heard of, nor would you really want to play them.

I really like all the puzzle games. Much less frustrating to lose when 25¢ isn't on the line!

There were three games that sucked away all my quareters as a kid.

Knights of the Round
Magic sword
Crystal Castles

Crystal Castles would be difficult without a trackball like the original arcade machine...but damn it was fun.

I used to love all those multiplayer beat-em ups best- TMNT, Alien Vs. Predator, Double Dragon, The Simpsons. I really used to love that Sega Spider-Man game.

The big MAME games I play are the Metal Slug games, and Marvel Vs. Capcom.

You could always just, like, download it yourself, you know... Torrents all over the place.

I found a similar game with a baseball theme on MAME but the name has escaped me. Pretty sure your weapon was a baseball bat.

I was going to say the name was Captain Baseball Bat but that was from Max Payne I think

My recent MAME favourites include:

Garou: Mark of teh Wolves (SNK 2D fighter)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Capcom 2D fighter.. duh)
DoDonPachi (Cave Japan-only vertical shooter)
Dangun Feveron (another Japan-only vertical shooter)
Money Puzzle Exchanger (SNK puzzle game)
Puzzle Bobble 2 (the best one available, IMO)
Penguin-Kun Wars (think tabletop dodgeball only with penguins)
Guwange (another Cave vertical shooter, Japan-only)

That's all I can think of at the moment, check them out.

That Penguin one sounds pretty good. Will try that tomorrow.

Discovered Magical Drop 3 too. Looks like an addicitive puzzle game, especially multi player. Perhaps that one best suits PSX or Saturn

My all time favorite is hands down Marvel Superheros. God knows how much money I spent in the arcades on that game and having it on my PC to play whenever I want allways make me smile.

Anyone know the PC MAME conversions compare to Saturn conversions?

I hear that the Saturn dominated the PSX in 2D performance but I would be interested in knowing how it fared against PC MAME?
