A game that requires logic
Am still a little unsure where to really post this thread, but I'll let you guy's judge that and let the moderator move this thread to the relevant forum.
There is a big crazy sweeping the UK at the moment..... Sudoku http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudoku It's been around for about 20 years but only recently become popular in the UK. I like it because it goes back to basics. No computers, fancy hand held device needed. Just good old fashion pen and paper. I am no fan of crossword puzzles, but I am now totally addicted to Sudoku. I was surprised to find no results on the TFP search! Anyway, all I can say is try it. Goto the wikipedia web link above. Read about the basic rules, and then try doing a Sudoku puzzle. I do the sudoku puzzles in my newspaper daily. So far none of them have taken me more than 25 minutes. They usually only last that long because I am eating lunch while doing them.

haven't seen those before... pretty neat, i like logic puzzles and such.
i always liked the ones that were like empty crosswords where you get a list of all of the words that have to go in it and you have to figure out how they can fit in.

I am so hooked it hurts. Three daily papers here has just started running them, but they are mostly way too easy. There are tougher ones on the net though. I love the simplicity and portability of them. You only need a pencil and a scrap of paper.

I am glad that it is new to some people and that you enjoy them. I love it for its simplicity and you can always find a more challenging Sukoku puzzle if you find things too easy.

Scott Kim does a version of Sudoku that where the sub-regions aren't squares. Those are fun to try.
I came across those in his daily calendar for this year. http://www.scottkim.com/ |

Do you sudoku ? Yes !
Ahh....I didn't see this thread before - who knows why...
I've been into the sudokus for about a month now. DailySudoku gives my share of them, although I notice on there that some of the 'hard' ones are easy and some of 'easy/medium' ones can be a bugger.. Also, if I'm ever stuck on one, I just forget it and pick it up a day or two later. After not seeing it, I can usually solve my problem with it catcha back on the flipside, will.
