Oh snap.
This is probably the only(or first) of the three next gen consoles. Two words: [confirmed] Backwards Compatibility.

That's awesome. The controller looks weird, but I can imagine it being VERY comfortable. Let's see it, Nintendo!

I'm pretty sure Nintendo won't show anything. No hardware, No controller. Maybe specs, but doubtful, we'll probably see just video.

The black version looks sexy as hell.
Should be interesting to see these console wars heat up.

prettier... multi-functioned... more expensive... everything one would expect of a new sony console. cheers: standard connectivity! USB ports and *gasp* a compactflash interface in addition to the requisite memory stick port. HDD options galore. This thing will make a killer HTPC once the mod-type geniuses get to work. jeers: the controller looks like a cheap 3rd party logitech hack. the same button configuration in a new unusual form-factor? gee thanks sony. who wants to place bets on how long it'll be till a "classic" controller from sony hits the streets? still not sure if the same games made prettier will hold my attention over the long-haul. Nintendo?

Thank god controllers are going wireless. I've got so many cables around my hub that it's not even funny any more.
Looks sweet though... kind of like a fax machine on Atkins that's had breast enlargement....

Um...
Given the history of console release, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have always released new consoles that comes with a funny looking controller. You can't stop evolution! You can try if you want but God ain't gonna let you I still remember the pain in my hand when I tried to use the N64's controller. But other than that, the controller looks like a mutation of Xbox Controller and a Logitech controller combined. Hey! The power switch is actually simplier this time! When I first got PS2, it actually took me awhile to figure out that you gotta press 2 button to turn the damn thing on along with turning the switch on. Whatever happened to the good old days when all you had to do was flip a switch on your console to get it going? Anybody know how many controller the PS3 can support? Any chance of having a PS3 connect directly to another PS3 like the Xbox does? I didn't bother reading the specs because the numbers are...well...it's Greek to me Quote:

i just don't see anything evolutionary or revolutionary about it. it's just the same damn controller with the same button configuration using a boom-a-rang form factor that has been around since the NES days. imho, it's just a token cosmetic change to make people think of the ps3 as something new/innovative/exciting rather than a functional one. some people will say the trusty ol' dual shock doesn't yet need revision... maybe they're right. either way, they got their wish.

lol, that's pretty funny.
i just saw an undersized pic of the new Nintendo console (just a tiny isometric view of the actual console, not controller or anything), and i think i have to say i prefer the sony design between the 3.

Sony have said it's 35 times more powerful than the PS2. More powerful where? It sure as hell ain't packing a 10325 Mhz processor or 1.12 gigs of RAM. Maybe they mean the Graphics card is 140MB now...

Spring 2006, sadly. One thing I haven't heard yet is a price and I'm getting scared. They don't have a harddrive, which sucks. However, they do have the new blue-ray format and that thing is going to boost the price up just a little. I swear if it turns out to be like 500 dollars I will just have to wait until 2007/2008.

The PS3 is going to blow everything out of the water. I'm not too happy about the new controllers...they look like boomerangs. Hopefully they wont come back after I throw them out the window.
Just watched a movie for Killzone 2. OMG, this game looks absolutely amazing. Like nothing I've ever seen before. This system cannot come out soon enough. Is it 2006 yet???

A year away? A whole goddamn year?! *sniff*
I've never actually bought a new console when they first come out, always wait until the prices come down a bit, should have some decent money though by that time though so may have to change that habit. The controllers do look a bit strange, but thats probablly just because I'm so used to the normal ps2 shape, it just feels so perfect |

This could be the ultimate console. Not trying to bash any one but the specs if the games are good are going to kill every one else. Nintento is saying theirs is only 2-3 time faster then the gamecube. But like we all know it is the games not the hardware that makes the console.
Surprised FFXI will be on X360 also.

They have screenshots of Tiger Woods 2006, and some godfather type game in the new Time magazine. They look pretty good.

Just been checking out all the hype over at some of the video game websites. The videos and screenshots look insane. Gran Turismo for PS3 is going to be sick. And we're talking launch titles here. How bout when we get to the thing being around for a year +
It's going to be crazy. Spring 2006 can't come fast enough. |

I read the new Grand Theft Auto's going to be a launch game for the PS3. That oughta be a ridiculously good game.
