Guitar Hero 2: Man, am I bad at that game. It seems like it could be fun for a while once I got good, and then I would get bored. The Buckethead song is insane.

Gears of War: As far as I can tell the only way to play this game is co-op; single player seems like a waste when you can play with a friend. A total blast.

Four more...

Dead Rising - A relatively good game; it certainly does justice to the genre, but it gets old really, really quick. It's pretty satisfying to beat down some zombie with a baseball bat or run them over with a lawn mower, but after endless hours traipsing back and forth across the enormous and difficult to navigate mega-mall...well, you get tired of it. And saving people...forget it. The AI is horrible. The save system sucks hard as well. If you must play it, rent it.

Gears of War - This game is awesome. Kadath is right, play it with a friend. Hands down one of the better games I've played this year. It's not all that innovative and you won't overwhelmed with new stuff, but it doesn't matter; the game plays that well. If you have a 360 there is absolutely no reason not to have this game. Period.

Superman Returns - Good idea, but man, what a learning curve. "Oh my god! you didn't make the 87 mile journey across town to blow out that fire in less than 2 seconds....tsk tsk tsk..you suck, Supes. Time to penalize you." They give you this amazingly cool city to fly around and pretty tight flight mechanics and not one moment just to cruise around and enjoy them. Not to mention the uber-wooden voice acting of Mr. Routh. You thought he was bad in the movie playing the Man of Steel? Rent this game and fall asleep to the soothing sounds of his marvelous monotone.

Twilight Princess - A very good game. It won't blow you away graphically (even with the better cables and widescreen presentation), but the gameplay will knock your socks off. It's amazing to me that despite 15 some odd years of Zelda games, they're still delivering fantastic games like this. Same old tools of the trade, same Link vs. Gannon to save Zelda storyline, but better with every incarnation. I hear the gamecube version is just as good, but if you can play it on the Wii. So much more satisfying to pull out the Master Sword and smack something with the Wii-mote

Wii Sports - Tennis. I had a few friends over for New Years Eve before we went out and one of them was nice enough to bring his Wii along. Four player tennis is AWESOME. The game was simple enough that even though most of the people at the party had never played before everyone could pick it up and play fairly quickly.
I dont know how good the single player is but as a party game its great.

If you like more RPG or Strategy style gaming I would suggest NWN 2...it was a bit buggy at first but the patches they have put out have corrected alot of problems. And as far as strategy goes, Medieval Total War II is good old fashioned world conquering fun.

Yes, we have We Love Katamari and it is pretty much the same but with new scenarios, environments and features. I haven't played it as much as the first Katamari, though. I still prefer that one. My daughter is working on a level on We Love Katamari in which she must collect 1,000,000 roses. She's been working on it for about two weeks and still has less than 100,000. Apparently wonderful stupendous things will happen when she is done but she hasn't been real clear about what those things are, lol. Ehhhhh, that sort of thing's just not my cup of tea. I like rolling up elephants and buildings and people...it relieves stress.

I just beat Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Subsistence. WOW!!!!!!!!! This game was unbelievable. Truly one of the best games ever made. I never played it through on my regular MGS3 disc so I bought Subsistence with a gift card I got. One of the best purchases ever. The story, the boss fights, the voice acting, the AMAZING graphics...everything about the game is so over the top incredible. 10/10

Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 -- 9.5/10

Holy SHIT. What a surprise!!! My GF bought me this game a few days ago and I just beat it. If you own a PS2 and haven't played this game, GO BUY IT!! It's only $20 brand new. I've never played a game like this before, and I've played a LOT of videogames. It really does transcend videogaming and go to a new level...a new experience. The art style in this game is unrivaled. Never before has any videogame had fights like these.

Far Cry Vengance - 7/10 (wii)

The only way i can describe this game is shady as fuck. There are moments where you attack an enemy, go past him, can't turn round because of the control system, and are butchered to death without knowing where the hell your being attacked from. Having the flick the nunchuk to jump is a pain, because if you jerk suddenly your guy flies into the air and off a cliff.

However, saying that, there is nothing quite as satisfying as nailing someone through a 10x zoom the otherside of a valley in the head with a sniper rifle that makes a huge boom. Or sneaking up behind someone and putting a machete through their back.

The graphics are not great, but i'm used to previous ninty games, so not that annoyed, but they can be a little odd when moving back 1 foot on a roof will allow you to zoom across an entire level, but moving forward will cover everything in grey fog.

Annoying as hell sometimes, fun as hell in others, just don't expect too much and you won't be dissapointed.

Wii Sports is great fun!
Also got Wii Play with the second Wiimote, it's alright (Laser Hockey rocks! As does the tank minigame). About half of the games are a bit too simple, IMO. Still, worth the extra money on top of the controller
And I got myself Zelda too, of course Not too far in yet...

Edit:
Downloaded Gunstar Heroes today (800 points), well worth the price! Played through it with a friend on co-op - not a bad alternative to renting a movie

So I ordered Rainbow Six: Vegas for PC and downloaded it. I gotta say that its pretty sweet. The AI could use some help, as I was able to find various rally points to aim at and mow down lines of enemies. The story that goes along with the game keeps you *sorta* interested. I just enjoy the style of action. It took me 3 days to complete on "Normal" which might be a little of the short side. I guess I sorta expected it out of a series that churns out title after title.

Overall? Well the game cost $50, and I think it was worth $35. So that would equate to 7/10.

Totally agreed. Once you get past the first few temples and can travel mostly unhindered, the games takes completely off. Great experience

Downloaded Bomberman '93 for the Virtual Console, and had four friends over - 5-player is a blast, recommended! Can be done with any combination of Gamecube pads (hold down R as the game boots up, and you'll get a screen showing which controllers are assigned to which players) and Wii Remotes

I picked up Final Fantasy XII a couple of weeks ago--I know, I know...I am waaay behind on this one.

With a handful of FF games under my belt, I would have to say, this is the best. No mushy melodramatic love story, no flippy, far-out philosophical bent, just a really good story involving royal intrigue, politics and world domination. 8/10. Points off for the stupid license system and the amount of level grinding I've had to do in order to progress.

Picked up Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition recently and Virgil kicks some serious ass. The difficulty level doesn't seem like it's changed much as it's still pretty hard, but I didn't find the original DMC3 to be that hard in the first place. Also picked up WoW's expansion The Burning Crusade, and it has been a blast as well.

I just recently got Wario Ware: Smooth Moves.

Overall, I don't regret making the purchase. That's my rating system... do I regret buying it or not?

The single player is really short, you can beat the game within the first hour or so of playing, but every level in the single player has different minigames, and a random chance of hitting certain minigames in each stage. So even though you played through wario's level, there is a chance you haven't played all of the minigames that wario's level has to offer. So, there is some replayability there, trying to find and unlock all of the little minigames it has to offer.

The single player also has some levels that specialize in one minigame and have tons of stages within that one minigame, but these particular levels aren't involved in finishing the game and are basically just there for killing time. Which is what video games are for in the first place, right?

The multiplayer is fun, but a little disappointing at first. It seems that wario ware only allows one controller to be used at a time, so all of the multiplayer games require taking turns (passing the wiimote back and forth) or, (and this is awesome) allows you to plug in the nunchuck and one player uses the nunchuck while one uses the wiimote. There are only a couple multiplayer wiimote+nunchuck games, but they are really fun and easy for anybody to learn and enjoy.

The taking turns thing turned me off at first, but it kind of gives the game that "board game" feeling, but instead of passing around a pair of dice, you're passing around a wiimote. It allows you to get a ton of people playing at once too, given they're all taking turns. It really could be the ultimate party or drinking (or both) game.

After reading this post, and those responding to it, I just had to check this game out. Luckily I've got a friend who owns it, and was able to borrow it from him.

It's a very fun and unique game! I've already beat it, but I have to go back through and see if I can get all the presents, and make the stars as bright as I can.

Has anyone here played the PSP version? If so, is it worth the purchase? I could see blowing some time playing that while in a waiting room somewhere, or on a lunch break, etc...

My last rental turned purchase is Viva Pinata. This game is...fun.

I love setting up gardens and attracting pinatas...I don't know why. I only have two complaints with the game: the first are those stupid minigames when the pinatas "romance," the second are the roaming bad guys. As if I don't have enough to worry about with the gardening and making sure the pinatas are getting along, I should worry about sour-crows and beggars?

Other than that though....great game.

I still can't believe that no one here is playing War Rock! It's a free to download, free to register, free to play, online MP FPS. You can drive everything from motorcycles to tanks to F-16's and upgrade your weapons for free. There are huge maps, and did I mention that it's free? You can buy a premium membership, which allows you to upgrade your weapons to really cool things like mini-guns, but when I'm laying flat on a rooftop, my free sniper rifle takes down guys like that, no problem. Check it out: www.warrock.net

this is exactly like UT or quake but in 2d! you pick your maps, the # of bots or start a real server or join an existing server. theres 6game styles from deathmatch to capturetheflag and a great mode called "rambo" where you get a bow somewhere on the map. the person carrying it has regenerating health and is the only one to score points when he kills. but everyone is against you if you have the bow. it's a great mode.

the only downside is the graphics cannot be updated because it would give you a too long view range.

8.5/10

Just bought a 360 yesterday.
Bought Gears of War, Need for Speed:Carbon yesterday, and Crackdown today.
Gears of War is mainly for the coop/online fun, but it excels perfectly at that.
Need for Speed is excellent because I'm a fan of the NFS games, I love customizing cars, and i got to pick to affiliate myself with the muscle group from the beginning. Go 67 Camaro SS!
And Crackdown so far has ruined my day, I bought it at 1 and didn't put it down till around 7 or so. It's so simple and so addictive. Plus you get the free invite to the Halo 3 Beta when it comes out.

I say, buy them all!
