I ended up buying both Dead Rising and Madden 07 for my 360 and I have to say I'm quite pleased with both games, even though of course people online in Madden like to use the same shit over and over again. I had some kid last night pick the Cowboys and do nothing but throw to T.O. the entire game...needless to say I lost. Dead Rising is so fun, I don't think the mindless zombie killing can ever get boring.

Disgaea 2 has pushed all others to the back. I can lose 4 hours to that game at a stretch and only notice when the room is too dark to see anything but the TV because the sun set. That game is a danger to me.

Just built my new rig (was sorely needing one, other pc is a 5 year old Dimension 4300) so I've been catching up on some pc games.
Bought Half Life 2, F.E.A.R., Farcry, Prey and Oblivion (yup have never played Farcry or HL2). Started F.E.A.R. today and it looks nice, maps are a bit repetative but the AI is sweet and there have been some parts that scared the crap out of me. Bought a DS Lite on impulse the other day because I want Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan. Got New Super Mario Brothers which is cool and Monkey Ball. Have the two GBA Castlevania games to play too. |

I had never heard of F.E.A.R. until they came out with Combat. I bought the retail version a few days later. Meh. I still play the multiplayer, but the game itself isn't that interesting.

I just got a copy of "Semper Fidelis: Marine Corps" for my birthday, and I love it. I was never one for the first-person shooter type game, but I love this thing! Easy controls, lots of toys, and Online game-play is great!

I bought my DS Lite the other night and purchased a few games (two of which I've barely played - Tetris and Super Mario Bros). However, I play Mario Kart ALL the time - single player, via internet, you name it. It's a BLAST! I'm addicted, and it was so worth every penny!

Playing Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow on my DS Lite right now and loving it. I can't wait for Portrait of Ruin. I think I'm going to get MegaMan ZX because I'm enjoying the side scrolling format so much.
I also got Madden 07. Pretty awesome game, but the kicking takes a lot of getting used to.

I've got two...
Marvel Ultimate Alliance - From the folks at Raven, who brought you the X-men Legends game. Very cool stuff. Gameplay is similar to the X-men games, but better. The cast of characters has some stinkers, but you get to play as Capt. America AND Thor, which more than makes up for it. I bought it solely for the co-op play. I get a kick out of showing off my (albeit limited) knowledge of the Marvel Universe (and playing Capt. America...did I mention Capt. America?) and he gets a kick out of smashing shit with Spiderman. Splinter Cell: Double Agent - It's more a refinement of what worked in Chaos Theory with a couple of new (and sometimes poorly implemented) bits and pieces. The new 'trust' thing can be a bit irritating sometimes. The new 'danger light' takes a bit to get used to and the AI is a bit wonky. The game is also incredibly short. Not that I expect a 100+ hour "Oblivion-esque" experience, but I feel a bit cheated considering what I shelled out for it at Wal*Mart. On the plus side, it's an incredibly pretty game. The online multi-player has been dumbed down a bit, which is a real bonus for us that don't have endless hours mastering a complicated control scheme just to be able to hold our own online. I haven't played any of the co-op stuff, although I'm glad to see it's back. The story is fairly solid and the voice acting is spot on, as always.

Recently picked up Dawn of War: Dark Crusade and it's awesome. The Tau Empire and Necrons are a nice addition to the other 5 factions, and the new units for the existing factions are nice. I also purchased Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for Xbox Live Arcade and it's just as good as it was when it first came out. One of my all time favorite MK games. <3 Scorpion

I just went out and bought the special edition of Bully. I've yet to play it, but all I've heard about the game is good. I believe the only "special" thing about it is the packaging, a comic, a Rockstar games sticker and an inflatable dodgeball. Looks like it should be pretty fun (I hope).

I just picked up Dark Crusade too. I haven't bought a new pc game in years but since I just became unemployed I figured I would actually have time to play one. I have to say I'm impressed. I love the graphics and all the games workshoppy goodness without stinky gamer funk.

need for speed Carbon
fun game. gets really anoying with the wingman and all the million menus. but the racing is good. 7/10 Tekken 5 when i got this, it sucked completely but when i got the controls down, it started to get pretty good. i can now beat the game without dying too much. the devil within minigame is allright but it's not why i bought it. 8.5/10 Shadow of the Colossus this is by far the best 3rd person game i ever played. it's a boss fight game. imagine all the best boss fights from your favorite game put into 1. some of them are so awesome that it's sad to kill them. 10/10 it's all good!

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance ... a much better game than I expected. I grew up in the "Silver Age" of Marvel Comics so I bought it just for the theme - what I didn't expect was that it would actually be a very well designed and detailed game.

The single player is quite possibly the best I've ever played in any shooter (including half life). The multiplayer isn't as well polished but the addition of having to chainsaw or head stomp your enemy in order to put them out for good makes the matches different. |

I just started playing Dark Messiah of might and magic, and am pretty impressed by the graphics and great gameplay. I don't like the overly linear scenario, though; I'm used to games like Oblivion, where you can do whatever you want... Of course, if you see Dark Messiah as a regular action game, it's great.
Oh, and I also just stated playing Neverwinter Nights 2. Looks nice and seems to grasp the olde D&D feeling. I'm just fighting a bit with the overhead camera, which doesn't seem to do what I want it to. That's probably my own fault, though; there are other camera modes I haven't tried yet. |

Gears of War 10/10
The most fun game that I have ever played. This game is a MUST. If you needed a reason to get a 360 right now, this is it...

I recently purchased an X-Box 360 and the first two games I bought were "Moto GP '06" and "Splinter Cell: Double Agent". I think both games are very fun and have outstanding graphics, but I really don't have any basis for comparison/rating because they are the only X-Box 360 games I've really played (other than a few minutes playing with a demo at a store).

Medieval 2: Total War 95%
This game is everything I hoped it to be. Leading crusades, fighting heresy, seiging castles, assassinating your rival' heirs - this game has it all. It won't be long before the rest of Europe follows Scotland and France and is crushed under my English boot. I've got my eye on you next, Portugal. |

Finally got my GameCube back from a friends house that I've been meaning to get for awhile now. Went out and picked up Resident Evil 4, and I'm extremely impressed with it. Not only do the graphics look amazing for being on the GC but the gameplay is awesome. I haven't gotten very far (I'm on Chapter 1, Part 4 I think) but it's looking to be a great game.

PS2 games:
Guitar Hero 2: I haven't played the 1st one yet but i did play the Amplitude game from the same company so I knew this would be a great game. It's even better than i expected! the soundtrack is insanely good and with the guitar controller, it's so much more fun!(amplitude was with the dualshock) Now i only played the easy mode and a few of the medium modes but they're awesome up to now! I think i can get better to try hard or even expert soon. if you have money for a new game, this is the one to get. if you have even more $, get a second controller for multiplayer. it must be even more fun as a coop. overall score: 9.6/10 Resident Evil 4: I got this game because it's the top rated game on gamerankings.com. i had originally planed to get The Warriors for myself for xmas but since the only copy was used with a huge scratch that didn't allow me to play, i got RE4. I've never played any of the games but i did watch both movies so i know it's a cool concept. the game: controls are easy when you get used to them. at 1st, it's almost impossible to aim. the rpg elements are great. (upgrade your weapons etc..) It's also interesting to see that theres an inventory in a shooter. The story for now seems allright and cool. the scenes, characters and buidlings are really well made. one thing that i didn't like was the invisible walls seen everywhere. but when you know theres only a few things to do in that area, it's understandable. overall score: 8.5/10 for now since i'm only on the 1st level. definitly a 9.5/10 for replayability. this game will last me forever if this 1st level is just a small % of the game!

I've played F.E.A.R. for quite some time now, but recently bought its expansion pack, Extraction Point. Oh, where to begin with this wonderful game? I can honestly say this has so far been the only game I've played that truly has me jumpy and wondering what might be around the next corner. The gameplay is excellent, the graphics are wonderful even on my mid-level computer that undoubtedly cannot do justice to the game's full potential, and replay value is superb. The multiplayer aspect of the game is intense and keeps you engaged.
Overall, a solid 10/10 in my book. |
