E3 Rumors + Xbox 360 Talk
This was originally ripped from GA Forums, and I ripped it from MoDojo.
- PS3 development is running behind schedule, the cause is the disc medium. - As a result, hardware will not be at E3, and software will only be shown as movies. - Koei, From, Capcom, Konami, Namco, Sega etc are on board. - Developer tools are somewhat of an improvement over 1st gen PS2's, but nowhere near as easy to use as 360's. - Wireless LAN and HDD will be included. - Revolution development is going well. There'll be playable titles at E3. - 3rd parties include Konami, Namco, Sega, Square Enix etc. - DS can be used as a controller and some software will make use of the touch panel. - DS online service starts this year. FFCC and Animal Crossing will be ready for launch. - Xbox360 dev tools are good in the eyes of developers. - More than 50 titles will be announced at E3, including some that are only announced by title (i.e. no video / demo) - Will be released in US and Japan this year. Europe and other regions will be next spring. - Hardware comes in two flavours: one comes with a 60G HDD and includes B/C with current Xbox. Other one has no HDD and no B/C. HDD will also be sold separately so you can upgrade later. - Price of HDD model $369, regular model $299. - Xbox360 will be compatible with MSN Music, and a memory-based audio player that uses the memory unit slot will be sold by MS. - Audio player will be $99 for 512 MB version. ----------------------------------------------------------- Ripped in the same manner as the info above Quote:

http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=46301&page=2 So, anybody else think that Microsoft rushed the Xbox360 a little? I was always under impression that it is too early for a new Xbox to come out.

Yes, absolutely.
I mean, take a look at some of the spectacular games that've come out on the x-box just these last few months. Splinter Cell 3 : Chaos Theory has got to be, hands down, one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. Forza Motorsports, which I haven't had a chance to pick up, is certainly living up to its' reputation as a GT killer from what I've read and seen. The point is, the limits of the hardware can still be pushed. There is still lot of life left in the X-box console, unfortunately, Microsoft decided to compete head-on with the new PS3 and pushed up their next generation console release date accordingly. This is sort of a double edged sword for Microsoft, I fear. I mean, sure they'll get to compete with the king of all consoles, but at what cost? Do I need to mention the dreaded Thompson drive that was the bane to all X-box owners out there for a while? There's just so many things that can go wrong and pushing up the release date isn't going to help them one bit.

I currently own all three platforms and I'm sure I'll end up with all three in the next gen at some point as well. However, I've got tons of games I still want to play on my current systems before I start unplugging them. I'm not going to be looking to buy new hardware until sometime in 2006 and my first purchase will probably be the machine with the best specs. I expect all three platforms to have solid software, so that really won't factor in right away. |

The next generation of gaming will be all about the software. I'm still happy with the level of graphical performance on our current systems. If MS makes an easy to use dev kit, we may be looking at a Xbox take over- I'VE SAID IS BEFORE: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GAMES!!!!!!!

Microsoft has one strong franchise, man. Halo, and that's about it. If it was all about the games, Nintendo would be spooging all over the competition.
As for 50 launch titles announced, didn't the DS top that?

I've always wondered why Microsoft is releasing the XBox 360 so early. Think about it...the PS2 debuted in 2000. The PS3 is supposed to come out in 2006. In other words, the PS2 would have a shelf life of 5-6 years, just like most of the consoles ever made.
The XBox debuted in 2001!! Now it's successor is releasing in 2005. That's a shelf-life of 4 years, possibly the lowest I've ever seen. Now is not the time to release a new console...next year is. These systems still have life in them and now Microsoft is rushing to bring out a new one before their first system is 4 years old. -Lasereth

Maybe they're doing so because of another point you brought up Lasereth, PS2 came out earlier and is technically the inferior system of the current gen. Perhaps MS want to do a Sony, get their console out first and rake in sales that way.
All the same, I don't really give a shit, I just want the new consoles. |

Loco, that's been pretty much de-confirmed. It's apparently more pressure sensetive than touch sensetive. And gyroscopes. And wireless.

is awesome!

okay what's the difference between pressure-sensitive and touch-sensitive? Will it be like a regular controller but squeezable?
Sounds like one of the new nintendo coupled with an altimeter could form a nice cpu for a homemade cruise missle! |

Nice guy. He is driving too (I hate to drive). So free tickets, free ride and a year at E3 with some exciting releases. I am mostly going for the experience more than anything. I think it will be quite the specticle since I have never been.

Here are some from the show.
I'll start with this gal who I posted somewhere else already. I needed a picture of her because she was just SOOO striking. It wasn't a gal I lusted after. Instead it was someone I just wanted to stare at. Pictures don't nearly do her justice. Her name was Gosia A nice custom case that I took a crappy picture of. It was made by a guy named Sheldog23 The New Age of Empires due in the fall I think. Very nice looking game. This is a killer console game that is pretty unique. You are a graffiti artist out to hone your skils and not get caught by the cops. This was the hugest thing ever. It was a LED Display that was roughly 15 feet tall by 60 feet wide. Unreal. It is made up of all individual LED units that all hook in to one controller. Really quite something. Sony_Ville I thought Nintendo looked pathetic. It was obvious that their "revolution" was vaporware. That thing on the right is a huge display that was cut into curved slices. Very impressive and expensive. Their games look like kindergarten to me, but then again, their message was on target with me: How much quality do you want after photo-realistic? If the game looks great, but is not fun to play, your business is not sustainable. I have to agree. The best way for me to put it is that Madden '92 plays better than the modern Madden. It was easy, fun and not realistic in play or graphics. But fun. I won a year's subscription, Starter kit with game and headset to XBOX live from Mountain Dew. I liked the metalic metal paintjob on the truck where I picked up the prize so I mugged for the camera. This company had the best game I ever saw except I forgot to look. This girl was very pretty in person. None of my shots of the xbox360 do it justice. It is unreal! It is tough to tell it is even a game. I thought the current XBOX looked good, but then when I went back to it to play some games, it looks terrible. XBOX360 will be ready at Christmas. They had like 50 of them running and playable with different stuff at the show. They say they will have 50 games ready for it as well. Crazy. The Playstation will likely be out in Spring 06, and they didn't show it live. More like they showed clips of it in a movie. (Nintendo showed a photoshop that some kid who worked there did it seemed). I think I will get one of these things this round since I haven't had my own console since the Odyssey2. Kid on the way so I suspect I will be around the house a bit. I am a tech geek and I suspect that despite Microsoft's efforts, their box is inferior (2 Teraflops of Graphical Processing beats 1 Teraflop) and Sony would have to slip. I think a couple killer exclusive titles could turn a tide though. One final note, there is an awesome game comming out that I played. It is called something like "Kill the Humans" and you are an alien. You have a spaceship, but you can also go around on foot which is the best part. You use mind powers to take over people or just to throw objects around. You also have a ray gun which works well. Really cool game and interesting missions.
