Beyond Good and Evil

After debating whether to play Zelda Minish or Golden Sun I totally changed my mind and went for Beyond Good and Evil. Been playing for an hour or so and am very impressed. You can definitely see the French and Rayman influence.

Excellent soundtrack and visuals too - just the remedy for a game to play after the dark atmosphere of HL2. Cant see it being as good though.

In the UK, BG+E has been reduced to rock bottom prices so I urge all to give it a go.

Beyond Good and Evil is a superb game in all categories (sound, graphics, gameplay, control). It was a perfect length for me, although most consider it short, and it had a great story that made you want to continue on non-stop. Hell of a game and probably overlooked by a lot of people.

What is the average playing time for this?

To be honest I could do with a short game after the 48+ hours spent on completing Dungeon Siege.

I believe it's around 10 hours or so if I remember correctly, give or take a few.

I Love this game !!!!!! It was one of the most underrated games on the playstation2, and deserves some great recognition. BGE harks back to the days of a great adventure with an actual storyline and varied and unique puzzles as well. Such a beauty - and it wraps up in a bit too. I finished this in 15 Hrs, and I took time out to explore almost everything and got all but maybe one or two of the pearls.

I heartedly recommend this game

Are there any kind of extra features if you collect all of the pearls do you know?

Cant be bothered doing it if its just to unlock an extra difficulty setting or something

Great game
Good graphics, decent storyline and varied type missions and settings
A "sleeper" classic, I hope that the creators made enough money to make another.

Pearl collecting and species documentation are essential to complete the game. Pearls buy you hovercraft add-on's at Mammago's Garage (essential) and species documentation provides you with credits to buy necessary items.
Therefore buy the Pearl and Animal Detectors as early as possible from Ming-Tzu's shop in the Pedestrian district.

Thanks for the info Anibal. For some reason I have not found time to play for a week or so. Regarding the sequel I am pretty sure there is a petition around to persuade the developers to make one. Apparently a sequel was out of the question last time I heard.

Man, after seeing the ending, a sequel is coming. Only eight hours or so on the gameplay though, it seems so wasted on something elsewise so beautiful.

Just got back into this after a week or so of neglect. Just about to embark on the mission to infiltrate the factory and volcano. Gotta say I love the little game with Francis - weird kind of air hockey style thing.

Bought everything from Ming Tzu apart from the special attack power up which I will probably keep playing the little games in the Pedestrian Area to save up for. Hope its worth it.

Yeah, this game was great... but SO SHORT!

I haven't played a game that short in a long time. I was just beginning to get into it when it was over. Saddening.

Found time for another couple of hours on this and still loving it.

Dont think I will be bothered to collect all the pearls though. Gotta be getting close to the end now - am in the Slaughterhouse.

Have also bought the Jump facility from Mamaggo. Incidentally, anyone know what the two other items are used for - I know one costs 30 pearls!

Looks like I might have this finished tonight - made it to the moon finally!

May aswell give this thread a quick bump to promote how good the game is. The more people who enjoy this the better. And the more likely a sequel is

So I take it you figured out what the 30 pearl item at Mammago's was for?

Yeah.

What was holding me back was the Black Isle crater of pearls. Didnt know you had to get the Spaceship there. Spent an hour or so floating around looking for gaps!

Just nailed this game after over 15 hours. Bit confused by the ending. Feel free to PM me your take on it if you want mate?

Definitely encouraging for a sequel though
