It is coming out very soon and I can't believe this game doesn't have a thread yet. I have the game preordered and am awaiting it anxiously. Bioware has not let me down in the past and it looks like they have cooked up another winner with Jade Empire. I'm willing to buy a Bioware RPG sight unseen I have so much faith in their games. Anyone else planning on playing this game? |

Reviews out on IGN and Gamespot.
IGN give it 9.9 whereas Gamespot went for the 8 mark. Will wait to see if a PC version is annouced before getting this one. They did it with Fable so I would expect the same would happen.. |

Picked up the game yesterday and dropped about 4 hours into it so far. I love it.. it just gives off a good feeling and I really enjoy the game. Everything draws you more into the story and into the action... it does have its problems here and there though but every game has problems. Well worth the money.

Like 20 hours in and in the Imperial City now. Kind of frustrating getting soo many awesome styles, and not haveing enough points to put into all of them. They are all so fun, i just want to use them all at the same time. The combat system takes a little time to get used to and properly learn how to fight effectively, but once you do it almost seems too easy. Im finding myself switching up my styles just to mix it up a little, as even the toughest bosses seem little different than the smallest minions. Just hafta hit em a little more often.
I have always enjoyed Bioware games, and this is no exception. While its fun, I'm not quite sure that its at the same level as KotOR ... yet.

This game is amazingly fun, but I've found that they've completely overdone it when it comes to conversation. After playing for an hour or so, I find myself reading all the dialog really fast and then skipping the voice-overs out of impatience.

I find myself solely using Thousand Cuts and Fortune's Favorite. I have other styles but I just keep putting my points into these two. I'm walking the way of the Open Palm (well, almost) and just finished Tien's Landing. Soon I'll be off to the pirate area. Arrr.

Damn, I havnt had enough time to play this!! Ive got to catch up today. Right now Im about 18 hours into the story - just worked my way into a certain faction... if you know what Im saying but Im curious to see where its headed in the end thought I realize there is only one thing I can truely do.
Once I get though it with open palm I think Im going to play through with closed fist. I have no idea what styles Im going to use yet - playing through with my staff and legendary strike right now. |

woh.. this is an rpg?? the way the commercials portrayed it, i assumed it was a basic fighting game....
FngKestrel: how long did it take you to beat? doesn't sound like a particularly long rpg i stopped playing fighting games long ago because they're almost all the same... but if it's rpg.. then maybe i'll get my buddy who actually has an xbox to buy it... |

It was a really good game. Had a couple of really good plot twists, but it was no KOTOR. I beat it as open palm and I do look forward to playing through as a closed fist, however this game has made me want to play KOTOR again. I only beat it once and that was as a light side, I want to play through as dark.

I've played almost 12 hours and I just completed the whole Spoiler: Tien's Landing/Evil Forest/Gao the Greater's Island part. I just got back to Tien's Landing from the latter location. I love this game, but as I said, it's a bit heavy on the dialog.

I need some help. DO NOT READ THE SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T YET BEEN TO THE IMPERIAL CITY AND FOUGHT IN THE ARENA!
Spoiler: I can't for the life of me figure out how to beat Kai Lan the Serpent in the Arena. Fighting on his own, he's easy, but when he pulls out his horse demons, they hurt me whenever I attack them, and I end up dying. Update: After a million failed tries, I finally put the combat difficulty at Student just for that one battle. I felt dirty doing it, but I couldn't find any other way to win. I sought help on the GameFAQS boards and they said to use chi strikes, but I hadn't built up my chi strikes at all so...yeah. Oh well.

Update: I am now presented with another roadblock. Spoiler: I am in the heaven with Lao's machinery. I have all the configurations, and I have the sulphuric water, cow stomach lining, and the iron. What the heck do I do? Update again: I guess I figured it out. Spoiler: For some reason I didn't see the cauldron there at first. I kept getting monkeys and demons, but I was able to get configurations for each piece of fuel. Update yet again: Well I completed the game. It was definitely one of my favorite games. It had me enthralled the entire time I was playing it, and I went hours upon hours without putting down the control. The environments in the game are stunningly beautiful, and my only gripe is the storyline was almost completely predictable. The only thing I didn't predict was Spoiler: the secret of Death's Hand, which I won't even spoil in a spoiler tag because it's such a big part of the storyline. Despite it's predictability, the storyline was still very entertaining. I loved this game, and I just might play through as a closed fist if I feel the urge to in the future.

And yes, Bioware makes some of the best games I've ever played. I will surely continue buying their games if they can maintain the quality. Last edited by Coppertop; 05-04-2005 at 05:37 PM.. Reason: stuff |
