The Next Grand Theft Auto
I've been trying to figure this out over the past few days, doing research online and stuff, but I can't find anything... A customer came into work the other day asking if the latest Grand Theft Auto: Detroit had come out. Thinking that they were referring to San Andreas, I show the customer the SA box, but my assistant manager says that the next GTA has been announced, GTA: Motor City.
But I go online and I can't seem to find anything about it... the only bit of info relevent I find is that a city in Midnight Club 3: DUB Ed. (a Rockstar Games production) is based on Detroit. Perhaps they made a mistake? Or is GTA: Motor City real? (it sounds plausible...) If it is real, I might have to pick up a copy, just because.

Tell the customer to get off the drugs Nothing's been announced, it'd be impossible _not_ to hear about it. Unless you lived under a rock in a cave on Mars with your fingers in your ears and your eyes poked out.

I was hoping for GTA: London ... Detroit sounds kinda lame, as does Tokyo to be honest. Moscow would be cool though, the mob practically runs the city... and the country.

I've been looking around online but haven't found anything ethier, your customer must have been mistaken. Plus it would be way to early for the next GTA i still haven't finished SA and remember how long we had to wait for that.

I was hoping for one in Chicago, only cuz I lived there for so long. I'd even take a "True Crimes" style game in Chi-Town, as I'd know my way around the game before I ever started it.

The last interview I read was that the GTA franchise was a trilogy that ended with San Andreas.

From what I've heard, the PSP game is supposed to be a prequel to GTA: San Andreas, following Carl Johnson around Liberty City.

As an interesting aside (I hope), yesterday I was at my friend's place watching him play GTA: San Andreas. 2 hours later we rented "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle," and stuck it it the PS2. As soon as we hit "play" a message comes up on the screen saying:
"the parental content settings on this unit will not allow this movie to play." We got around it, but you have to wonder how Harold and Kumar would be worse to watch for a kid than San Andreas, which presented no such obstacles.

yeah the PS2 will do that. it likes to have a parental control for pg13 movies (predator) and no control for "R" (Not another Teen Movie)

Right after Vice City came out I was driving around my town and looking around and thought it would be sorta interesting if they made a GTA that took place in a very Suburban sort of town where there usually isn't much crime if any at all and how interesting it would be to see them set up a Citizen Crime Watch sort of thing and how you get around that and blend in with the other people.
Then of course my town made national news when those 4 guys killed those 6 people over and XBox and it no longer seemed as innocent of a place to live. |

None of this gangsta G crap.. In other words, milk all of the japanese pop culture, semi take the piss out of it and i'd be way keen to pre-order a year before it was released. sweet.. like a bat.

So, is the one coming out on PSP with Carl Johnson in it? I preordered it when I preordered my PSP, but I don't actually know when it comes out. Oh well, at least it's paid for already.
Oh, and yet another vote for GTA: Tokyo, not that it makes a difference. |

While Tokyo would be cool, I still think the greatest POSSIBLE Grand Theft Auto game would be set in Vegas.
Think about it - Grand Theft Auto: Sin City. A city that is literally, blatantly run by the mob. Crime and vice capitol of the world. Holy hell, I don't think anything could be better than this. Of course, GTA: Fargo sounds pretty enticing, too. |

I want more landscape! More than a minute of flight like in SA The jet rocked, but man, it's all over so quick. Ten cities! A REAL state, not some countryside!

I thought the next one (for a home console) was supposed to be called simply, GTA 4. (for the neXtBox/PS3)

I dunno... I think the one on PSP is just gonna be called "Grand Theft Auto" and be similar to GTA3 but not a direct port. My guess is that the next console GTA will be on PS3 and will just be called GTA4. The trilogy on PS2 all used the same engine pretty much and I would assume they're making a whole new engine on PS3... Of course I'm just predicting the future, no evidence here... although I did guess that the next GTA after vice city would be san andreas, but that's just because the first GTA had liberty city/vice city/san andreas as its levels.
