Game Mods
One of my favorite sections in PC Gamer in the Extended Play article. If you are unfamiliar with it, the magazine pics a few game mods each month to review. These mods are for all types of games, from FPS to RPG.
So I figured another good way to learn about all different types of mods that might be floating around out there would be to ask you guys and gals: What are your favorite pc game mods? I'll start with a few of my favorites: Battlefield 1942 - Desert Combat HL2 - Counter-Strike Source HL - The Specialists Freedom Force - Danger Room |

Marathon: Rubicon Two mods that equalled, if not surpassed, the atmosphere, action and plotlines of the title they benefitted. And that's damn well saying something.

Quake - Team Fortress
It has been imitated with Weapons Factory, unsucessful. Half Life tried it... again IMO Unsucessful. Nothing was as good as the original. I haven't checked out many recent mods for new games.

I specifically remember a Quake 2 mod simply called "Weapons" - basicly every gun had like 6 different modes and all of them caused a disgusting amount of destruction. There was no order to the game, but it was sure fun throwing an atomic grenade in a room full of people.

Oh that reminds me of EXCESSIVE for Quake 3. That was a cool mod. Almost like the one Halx was describing except each weapon had one mode of fire, but did some pretty big damage. I highly recommend its fun. The shotty blast like 10 rail shots at a time, the machine gun has explosive bullets, plasma had a 3 way spray, rail gun shot at about 4~5 shots per second (did less damg to balance) way fun. People are still playing it.

A few have been already said,
Quake - Team Fortress, the original Canalzone 2 map was awesome. Quake - Holy Wars. Great Deathmatch mode. Encourages team play and backstabbing in the same breath. Half-life - TFC, pretty damn good remake IMO. Half-life - Opera, love kung fu blood operas. Great take on the genre. Half-life - Counter Strike naturally. But before bunny hoppers went insane. Half-life - Yoda Deathmatch. Kind of odd, but for some reason, seeing Yoda's body sticking out of a wall is pretty damn funny. BF1942 - Desert Combat, Stinger + Hind = Great fun. Max Payne - Kung Fu. So good that the dev makers gave a shout out in the second one. |

I'd say Day of Defeat for Half Life. I spent a lot of hours getting worked in this game but even though I stink at it I kept playing trying to get better. Its gotta be good if I keep going back for more even though I wasn't good.
Does anyone know if there are any good uniform and team modifications made for Madden 2005 on PC? I know there is a community for this on the NBA games by EA sports but I haven't seen anything for Madden.

I looked for mods like that for a while bratwurst, but besides the usual roster updates, I haven't seen any mods for 2005. I was suprised, as I am used to all the jersey, equipment, face pack, and rink mods that come out for NHL games. I figured with football being alot more popular, there would be that many more mods.
